We are committed to being an organization that practices inclusiveness. The Penguin Project is a way for us to reach children who may not have opportunities to perform and give them a chance to shine in the spotlight. We believe that The Penguin Project is an opportunity to forge strong relationships in the community between the children involved, as well as between LCT and organizations whose mission is to serve individuals with special needs. We hope that you will consider being a part of the magic that’s created when people from all different walks of life come together to put on a show,” said LCT Producing Artistic Director, Grant Golson. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s evil shenanigans, finding a new home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy. The Artists will get on-stage assistance from their Mentor. Artists are children and young adults ages 8 to 20 with special needs, including (but not limited to) cognitive, learning, motor, visual, and hearing impairments, as well as genetic and neurological disorders. Mentors are children and young adults ages 8 to 20 who do not have special needs. They will be matched as closely as possible with an Artist of similar age and interests, and the two will work side-by-side through the entire rehearsal and performance process. The program is made possible through the support of our community partners and is free for all participants. For questions or to sign up, please call the box office at 608-784-9292 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.1 2 3
