When I started working on the #NeverEndingReno in the kitchen, one of the things I was determined to do is squeeze in some open shelving – no easy feat in my teeny-tiny kitchen. I ended up mounting a long shelf above the window – it was literally the onlypossible spot.
PANTRY BETWEEN THE STUDS It’s done.FINALLY! Our Pantry Between the Studs project has been limping along in the background since we finished up the big kitchen reno back in March. My kitchen is just 10′ x 10′, so while I packed a lot of clever space saving storage ideas into it, I just couldn’t squeeze in a pantry. THRIFT STORE UPCYCLE: SUCCULENT PLANTERS But then I stumbled on this set of wooden salad bowls for $4.99. Perfect! Note: After I shot this photo I went back and added a few more drainage holes. Succulents don’t like to stay wet. I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom for drainage and sprayed them with a couple of coats of clear, matte poly. I let the top coat cure forabout a week
THRIFT STORE DECOR UPCYCLE CHALLENGE: FAUX MERCURY GLASS This is the only slightly tricky part of the whole project. You’ll want to hold the spray bottle some distance away from the lamp. 3. Spray the wet lamps with the Looking Glass paint. The solution will keep the paint from sticking to the lamp. Wait a minute or so and dab the lamp with a soft cloth. It should look cloudy and have black spots WHAT I DID WITH MY SCRAP BUTCHER BLOCK BTW – If you’re having friends over for drinks, this is a fantastic set up and it takes no time at all to assemble. This is what I included on mine: 3 kinds of cheese, grapes, almonds, roasted red pepper hummus, crostini, asiago stuffed peppers, prosciutto, peppered salami, gorgonzola stuffed olives and assorted crackers: Insta-Party! HOW TO MAKE PVC FOOTBALL GOALPOSTS 4 metal conduit straps. 2 – squares of artificial grass (mine was about 12×12 from Michaels) Bright yellow spray paint. Brown spray paint. PVC Cleaner.
