Video Guide. Located in the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness just north of Alexandria, Louisiana, the Backbone Trail is the best backpacking experience in Louisiana. Clark Creek Natural Area. The Clark Creek Natural Area is located in southwestern Mississippi, near Woodville. Comprising more than 700 acres, it is highlighted by some 50 waterfalls, ranging in size from 10 to more than 30 feet in height. Located just north of St Francisville, this area is full of steep ravines, sandy bayous, and lots of interesting wildlife. Arguably the most scenic hike in Louisiana, the 1.2 mile Longleaf Vista Trail Nature Trail is located in the Kisatchie National Forest, just NW of Alexandria. Valentine Lake Trail Ok, technically it's five trails since I use the Lamotte Creek Trail as a connector but there is an alternate route where this trail is not used. This trip was so much fun and I hope to see more people doingit!
