RESIDENT ARTIST PROGRAM The Resident Artist Program offers emerging artists the opportunity to work in residence at Mabou Mines for six months, receiving mentoring from our Artistic Directors and Associates, a stipend, rehearsal/performance space, and administrative and technical assistance. DAVID NEUMANN
David Neumann’s work as a freelance choreographer, director and performer includes a wide range of projects and disciplines. Since 1999, Neumann has worked behind the scenes to craft plays, operas, films and multi-disciplinary performances. From avant-garde theater to blockbuster films, classic opera to new musicals, David’s diverse experience has given him a unique ability to articulate LEE BREUER - MABOU MINES Lee has been honored with many awards, including the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (French Ministry of Culture), and the Helen Hayes Award. He has held a several prestigious fellowships: Bunting, Guggenheim, Fulbright (twice) and the MacArthur. He is proud to have directed more than a dozen OBIE Award-winning performances.MUD/DROWNING
Earlier versions of the new Drowning opera and Mud were first performed in 2019 at the Circle Theatre in Carmel, CA, as part of the Days and Nights Festival. Terry O’Reilly (易光海) is a playwright, performer and director. His work ranges from dancing in the companies of Trisha Brown, Simone Forte and Meredith Monk to directing minimalist opera about Nikola Tesla in Belgrade and Brooklyn Academy of Music to directing and co-writing (with Simon Wong) a children’s puppet play in Hong Kong and Guangxi based on US and Chinese folk stories.
