Scope of Duties: This position serves visitors to Mackinac State Historic Parks (MSHP) by working as a historic interpreter at the Biddle House, American MACKINAC STATE HISTORIC PARKS Mackinac State Historic Parks is a family of living history museums and nature parks in northern Michigan’s Straits of Mackinac and is an agency within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources andEnvironment.
MACKINAC ISLAND STATE PARK Mackinac Island State Park contains 70.5 miles of signed and interpreted roads and trails. Some are paved, some are not. Some are shared by horses, bikes and walkers; others are best for hiking only. There are also over 50 interpretive panels throughout the park thatFORT MACKINAC
Demonstrations and tours by costumed interpreters are scheduled throughout the day. Exciting programs taking place throughout the 2021 season include cannon and rifle firing demonstrations, a tour exploring the army of the 1880s, a detailed look at Mackinac during its time as a national park, a program exploring how the fort has changed over time, and a program dedicated to the women who MACKINAC ISLAND STATE PARK HISTORIC SITES AND MONUMENTS Marquette Park and the Father Marquette Statue. For decades the area below the fort was used as a garden for growing vegetables. Soon after the fort was closed in 1895, the Park Commission transformed this area into a park in honor of Father Jacque Marquette. MICHILIMACKINAC ARCHAEOLOGY 2021 HAS BEGUN The 63rd archaeological field season at Michilimackinac got underway June 1. This will be the 14th season at the current project, the excavation of House E of the Southeast Rowhouse.
