There was a C.A. Gotz who ran a large instrument making company in Markneukirchen from 1880-1906. The was a Conrad Gotz 1966-1973 working in Germany doing both instruments and bows. HELP!- NICOLAS BERTHOLINI The later ones, around the 1920s-30s are typical French factory work (see here), but I've seen one that I presume was earlier which was quite different; very attractive wood selection, brown varnish, and it appeared to be something of an Amati model - the arching and edgework were not what I'd normally associate with typical French factory work.A nice sounding violin as well. PERNAMBUCO BOW BLANKS Brazil wood or Pernambuco is a rare exotic hardwood that is a burnt reddish-orange color. Posted July 29, 2006. I used to collect propolis from my father's bee hives. It varied a lot in consistency even in areas a few mm apart. Some was yellow and soft, some was red and waxy other pieces more interestingly were hard red and transparent like very fine varnish.Quote.

I have a violin he built containing a generic Strad label dated Sept of 1904. The violin is hand signed on the inside of the top, upper bass side. READING MUSIC: WHAT GLASSES? Posted April 2. I'm usually pretty good at this game but I can't quite figure this one out. I think your picture might be upside down, in the current perspective it looks like there is a period in the upper left of the stamp, which probably should be on the lower right for anabbreviation.

I'm usually pretty good at this game but I can't quite figure this one out. I think your picture might be upside down, in the current perspective it looks like there is a period in the upper left of the stamp, which probably should be on the lower right for anabbreviation.

GUARNERI F-HOLE PLACEMENT I was just scanning thru some photos to get them embedded into my brain, and noticed a bit of variation. This may be old news to most of you, but I hadnt noticed before how wildly some of these locations varied from the reliable old Strad placement (the top of the lower eye being level with the pKARL BECK VIOLIN
I recently dug up a violin that I have had lying around the house for fifteen years or so. It says that it was handmade by Karl Beck and that it is a Stradavarius copy. Is this a cheap violin or does it have some value. Any hints as to its value or where to get it appraised would be appreciated.
