The Guild’s mission is to support and encourage the Maine cheesemaking community. We will do this through development of a collective voice to promote Maine cheese and cheesemakers, educate cheese makers and consumers, coordinate resources and shareABOUT THE GUILD

THE MAINE CHEESE FESTIVAL The festival is a major fundraising effort for the Maine Cheese Guild, a non-profit trade organization that works year-round to educate Maine cheesemakers and elevate the quality of Maine cheese and dairy. Beer Garden tickets: $15 for 12 tastings available at the Festival. Bring your ID if you want to enter the Maine Beer Garden at the Festival.OPEN CREAMERY DAY
Save this date! 14th Annual Open Creamery Day Sunday, October 10, 2021. Details will be available as plans are firm and the date approaches. Presented by the Maine Cheese Guild, always the Sunday of Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend. UPDATE: 2020 MAINE CHEESE FESTIVAL CANCELED Update: 2020 Maine Cheese Festival Canceled. The Board of the Maine Cheese Guild came to the difficult decision to cancel our Annual Maine Cheese Festival for 2020 at Savage Oakes Winery in Union. The safety and well being of our community and customers is our highest priority. It does not feel right to be putting our time and energy into YOGURT – MAINE CHEESE GUILD The New York Times reports on the astounding growth of the production of Greek-style yogurt in the US, which has dominated New York State dairy in the last few years, and now is set to take over Idaho as a new Chobani plant opens in Twin Falls. Upon completion of the workshops and your successful participation in technical assistance, you will be awarded a $1,000 seed grant. There is a net gain of $500 to your farm! Scholarships are available, as well aspayment plans.
AMERICAN CHEESE SOCIETY ANNUAL COMPETITION AWARDS American Cheese Society Annual Competition Awards Announced. Posted on August 8, 2009. January 20, 2020. by News. Three Maine Cheese Guild members — Appleton Creamery, Longfellow Creamery, and Pineland Farms Creamery — won awards at the 2009 American Cheese Society Conference that just concluded in Austin, TX. MONROE CHEESE: A DELECTABLE MEMORY Salting and pressing followed. Butter fat was not over 3.7 percent for the full-fat cheese. There were two cutters, two-feet long and one-foot wide. One cutter, with eight knives, went lengthwise of the vat, cubing the cheese. After the cheese was salted and pressed, the blocks were turned onto a table to dry, having to be turned often.
