McKinley Memorial (Canton, Ohio) The Memorial is open April 1-November 1 during Museum hours. The McKinley Monument, a landmark in the City of Canton, is the final resting place for the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley. William McKinley’s early career as an educator inspires us today to plan educational events, conduct classes and explore science, the universe and our own local community. PLANETARIUM SHOWS: COSMIC KIDS Constellations, planets, light show & music. Great for ages 3 & up. Free ticket with museum admission. Must have a separate planetarium ticket to attend the presentation. Limit of ten spots per show. Please arrive at the planetarium entrance 5 minutes prior to the showing. The following safety guidelines will be in place: VOLUNTEER | MCKINLEY MUSEUM Volunteers contribute many hours of service and provide extra hands for our educational programs, demonstrations, special events and exhibits for thousands of people every year. Our Hoover-Price Planetarium will take you to the stars and beyond! Students will view the night sky, constellations, and learn the latest in the field of astronomy. In addition to the McKinley Gallery and the Street of Shops, the American Heritage Tour also includes The Stark County Story. This exhibit has received rave reviews for its contentand interactivity.
HOOVER PRICE PLANETARIUM The planetarium was established in 1963 and was named after the two families who made the project possible, the Hoover family and company and Mr. and Mrs. Harley Price. Ida Saxton. January 25, 1871 –Married Ida Saxton at First Presbyterian Church in Canton, Ohio. Defeated in his re-election bid for Stark County prosecutor and returned to private practice. December 25, 1871 Katie McKinley was born to William and Ida. She died in 1875of typhoid fever.

Stark County Then & Now (3rd Grade) Students will learn about the history of Stark County, including the development of major industries and immigration to the area. Science Expeditions (Available September-March) Science Expeditions take place in our school house in the Street of Shop and includes five grade appropriate programs. Each program was designed around the Ohio Learning Standards. Students will be challenged to think critically, problem solve and work together to achieve common goals. CANTON’S WEST LAWN CEMETERY Canton’s West Lawn Cemetery is best known as the original burial site of President William McKinley, who was assassinated in 1901. But, it is also the final resting place of thousands of Canton citizens, including some of the most influential and famous residents in thecity’s history.

Ida Saxton. January 25, 1871 –Married Ida Saxton at First Presbyterian Church in Canton, Ohio. Defeated in his re-election bid for Stark County prosecutor and returned to private practice. December 25, 1871 Katie McKinley was born to William and Ida. She died in 1875of typhoid fever.
HOOVER PRICE PLANETARIUM The planetarium was established in 1963 and was named after the two families who made the project possible, the Hoover family and company and Mr. and Mrs. Harley Price. The Junior League of Canton donated the dome and several projectors. History To Go Programs are available virtually or in person. Stark County Then & Now (3rd Grade) Students will learn about the history of Stark County, including the development of major industries and immigration to the area. Using maps and historic photographs, students will discover the rich history of Stark County. The programSCHOOL PROGRAMS
Science Expeditions (Available September-March) Science Expeditions take place in our school house in the Street of Shop and includes five grade appropriate programs. Each program was designed around the Ohio Learning Standards. Students will be challenged to think critically, problem solve and work together to achieve common goals. CANTON’S WEST LAWN CEMETERY Canton’s West Lawn Cemetery is best known as the original burial site of President William McKinley, who was assassinated in 1901. But, it is also the final resting place of thousands of Canton citizens, including some of the most influential and famous residents in thecity’s history.
