Larry Kagan (b. 1946, Germany) is an American sculptor who uses steel, cast light and shadow as a creative medium. Winding and welding a tangled web of steel wires, Kagan is able to “draw” with shadows. The focus of his work is not the abstract mass of wires he creates, but rather the shadows that emerge onto the wall when light is castupon them.
RICHARD ESTES
Richard Estes (b. 1932, Kewanee, Illinois) is the artist most commonly associated with Photorealism. He began painting cityscapes in this style in the late 1960s, using multiple source photographs to composite his paintings. Initially, he focused on the Upper West Side of New York City, but has since travelled the world and depictednumerous cities.
BERTRAND MENIEL
Bertrand Meniel (b. 1961, Boulogne Billancourt, France) has embraced digital photographic technology perhaps more so than any other Photorealist. The compositions of his paintings are assembled from multiple photographs and incorporate a tremendous amount of detail. Despite working in fast-drying acrylics, Meniel is able to incorporate more information into each of his paintings than any otherJOHN KACERE
John Kacere (b. 1920, Walker, Iowa; d. 1999, Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is best known for his paintings of the female body, particularly midsections, clothed in lingerie. These larger-than-life paintings often drew criticism from feminists, but he maintained his work is a celebration of womanhood. Kacere’s work is held in major collections including Stedeljik Museum in Amsterdam, Holland, PortlandRON KLEEMANN
Ron Kleemann. Ron Kleemann (b. 1937, Bay City, Michigan; d. 2014, Great Barrington, Massachusetts) focused his work on what he deemed “corporate graffiti,” depicting the branding marks and logos on automobiles. Beginning with Grand Prix cars, he later painted IndyROBERT NEFFSON
Robert Neffson. Robert Neffson (b. 1949, New York, New York) often incorporates detailed street scenes and window reflections into his paintings of New York City.
