It’s easy to feel comfortable there, with the windows down and music playing, not a care in the world. The reality, however, is that we put ourselves at great risk every time we get behind the wheel. Accidents are incredibly common all across the country. So common, in fact, that there’s a highlikelihood
that
each one of us will be in an accident at some point or another. What should you do if you find yourself in this kind of situation? Read on and we’ll walk you through what you should know. HEALTH AND SAFETY FIRST An accident can be quite shocking, meaning it’ll be hard to think straight following this kind of unexpected incident. Trying to keep a clear head, however, can be key. The first thing you should do after an accident is to check on the health of yourself and other passengers in your vehicle. If anyone is seriously injured, immediately call emergency services. Do a thorough check as well. Adrenaline is likely pumping through you at this time, masking pains and the feelings of potentially unseeable injuries. It’s very easy to be injured and not realize it until time has passed and your body has calmed down. Once you’ve ensured everyone in your vehicle is safe, check on the status of other drivers involved in the wreck. Move your vehicle from the road to help ensure oncoming vehicles don’t impact you. You’ll be safer out of the way of traffic.GATHERING EVIDENCE
Many people make the mistake of not looking out for their own wellbeing after a crash.
The steps you take will be essential in securing your future financialstability.
If you’ve been injured in an accident due to another driver’s negligence, you will have a right to compensation under the law. Still, you’ll need to provide ample evidence to prove fault and demonstrate the extent of your injuries. You have a camera in your pocket at all times these days, so use it! Take many videos and photos of the accident, making sure to capture detailed images of your vehicle and your own injuries. When the police arrive, make sure to get a copy of the police report. This will be a key piece of evidence in your case. You’ll also want to ensure you get the contact information of any witnesses to the accident. Much like the police, these people can serve as third-party viewpoints, giving your take on the events that transpired more credence. Last but not least, make sure you visit a doctor as soon as you can after an accident to ensure that you understand the extent of yourinjuries.

Posted in Uncategorized WHY YOU NEED TO USE QUALITY BATTERIES FOR YOUR MOTORCYCLE •July 31, 2020 • Comments Off on Why You Need to Use Quality Batteries for Your Motorcycle Batteries play an important role in a motorcycle as it converts chemical energy to electrical energy that is used to power on the motorcycle. Besides, it prevents the electric current from causing damages to the critical parts of the motorcycle. Therefore, it is important to get a quality battery for your motorcycle as it will go a long way in improving your ride. Discussed below are some of how quality batteries can benefit your motorcycle:ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The primary job of motorcycle batteries is to START THE BIKE and to supply any extra current that the bike may require when the alternator output is lower than the current draw. This mostly happens at low rpm when electricity demand is higher than the alternator output which could be low as sometimes it might be when stacked in slow traffic or during a high-speed cruise. A lot of high draws electrical accessories exacerbate the situation and may cause the battery voltage to drop to a point where it can no longer start the bike. The solution here is to monitor the charge of the battery. Having a good battery, therefore, ensures that you do not find yourself in such undesirable situations.HIGH RESPONSIVENESS
The battery also plays the role of buffer between the electrical components and the charging system. Alternators are capable of putting out very high voltages. On many occasions, over 75 volts AC can be generated which can fry everything in the motorcycle system. Hence, the battery prevents the alternator from running away even when the regulator fails although it might sacrifice itself by doing so. CAN HANDLE TEMPERATURE EXTREMES Additionally, a motorcycle battery also plays an important role in protecting sensitive system components from being damaged. Such threats of being damaged can be a result of normal voltage spikes which usually occur when a circuit is switched on and off. This can lead to serious damages, therefore, resulting in unnecessary repair costs. Luckily, this is avoidable by simply buying a qualitymotorcycle battery.
LOW MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS The MOTORCYCLE BATTERIES require minimal maintenance which includes cleaning the terminals regularly to remove the corrosion buildup. Besides, an acid level check is also done and replaced in case it is deemed necessary. This increases battery lifespan and also ensures that the battery works as efficiently as possible for the motorcycle rider. Maintenance also reduces the cost of purchasing a new one now and then which is economical to the owner.CONCLUSION
Motorcycle batteries are crucial for ensuring the full functionality of the motorcycle. As such, it is important to ensure that you get the best quality motorcycle battery that will protect you and your cycle to prevent damages and accidents. Getting a good quality motorcycle battery ensures that you do not have to worry about battery efficiency, effectiveness, and motorcycle performance. A good battery guarantees you a smooth ride for long distances thereby making your journeys more memorable and convenient. Posted in Uncategorized AVOID CAR ACCIDENTS WITH THESE TOP TIPS •July 29, 2020 • Comments Off on Avoid car accidents with thesetop tips
We all want to avoid getting into accidents on the road. While driving is quick, practical and often enjoyable, it can also be dangerous. You rely on the good practice of other drivers as soon as you get into a vehicle, and that can cause issues that lead to collisions (speak to a lawyer dealing in car accident casesif you have
been affected).
But, while not all accidents are avoidable, there are certain ways that you can reduce the likelihood of one occurring. Check out thefollowing tips.
ABIDE BY THE SPEED LIMIT We all know that the speed limit is put in place for a reason. It ensures that we drive appropriately depending on the location; going slower in pedestrian areas and faster on the freeway. Sometimes it can be tempting to drive a little quicker if the roads are empty, but that’s always a bad idea. Pedestrians or other cars can appear as if out of nowhere and it’s better to besafe than sorry.
MINIMIZE DISTRACTIONS It’s easy to become distracted in the car. A phone call, your favorite song on the radio or re-navigating your GPS could grab your focus and mean that you don’t notice something on the road ahead. Be vigilant and make sure that driving is your main focus. DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE Drinking and driving is illegal. Alcohol slows your reactions, meaning that you’re significantly more likely to get into an accident.Don’t do it.
USE YOUR LIGHTS
Accidents often happen on dark country roads or in foggy conditions. Drivers need to be able to see well to respond quickly to any hazards or obstacles. Luckily, your vehicle is equipped with a variety of lights for different conditions. So, when you’re struggling to see, put them on. It’s not rocket science.TAKE BREAKS
You probably find it’s easy to feel sleepy on a long car journey. The freeway feels like a never-ending road and your eyes slowly become blurry… It’s time to take a break. Stop at a rest area, gas station or café – and reboot. GET YOUR CAR CHECKED Accidents can happen when vehicles have faults that are unbeknown to the driver. Avoid them by regularly checking your vehicle and ensuring that everything is working well. Testing the brakes once a week could prevent a life-threatening accident.WEAR YOUR SEATBELT
OK, so wearing a seatbelt won’t stop you from getting into an accident. But, if the worst happens and you crash, your seatbelt will hopefully prevent too much damage. They might be a little uncomfortable, but they’re there for a reason. Wear your seatbeltand save your life.
BE VIGILANT
Even the most confident drivers need to be vigilant. That means concentrating on the road and being alert to any obstacles or hazards. A good driver never loses focus. Posted in Uncategorized 5 DISTRACTIONS TO AVOID WHEN DRIVING •June 29, 2020 • Comments Off on 5 distractions to avoidwhen driving
It’s easy to get distracted when driving. No one wants to sit in a silent car for hours on end, grasping the wheel so hard your knuckles go white and staring obsessively at the road. However, distractions are one of the main causes of car accidents. Losing focus on the road even for a second can mean that you don’t see a hazard. The following distractions could cause an accident when driving, and therefore should be avoided – or used with caution.PHONES
Using a phone when driving isn’t just a distraction to be avoided, it’s against the law. Sending a message or checking social media can be incredibly dangerous, as can speaking on a handheld phone. This is because you’ll stop paying attention to the road, and might miss hazards ahead (is it difficult to prove the other driver was texting and driving before the crash?)
If you’re worried about the temptation of checking your phone while driving, tuck it away in your bag or glove compartment.SATNAV
Many people need satnavsto
get around. With a satnav, you never get lost. Take a wrong turning and it re-navigates. Long gone are the days of faffing around with an A-Z, frantically flipping the pages and shouting at the delegated map reader. However, satnavs should be used with caution. Fiddling around with one while driving can be the distraction that causes an accident. Stop the car before rerouting.RADIO
Many of us like listening to the radio to make a car journey go quicker. Music, podcasts or talk-shows can entertain us without taking our eyes off the road. Studies find that listening to the radio can help to keep people energised and focussed when driving, so in a lot of ways they are a good thing. However, like satnavs, radios should be used sensibly. Fiddling with the channels is another distraction that takes your attention off the road. You’d rather listen to the band you hate for two minutes than be in a life-threatening accident.EATING
When you’re in a rush and worried about being late, it can be tempting to eat en-route. Eating might not seem like much of a distraction. But, when you’re eating or drinking, you’ll need to have one hand off the wheel. This means that you’ll react slower to a hazard. So, avoid eating in the car if possible. Stop at a service station to do your munching.NOISY PASSENGERS
Driving with passengers can make the journey a lot more entertaining. We all like to have a little company when driving. However, sometimes noisy passengers can be more of a hindrance than help. If your friend won’t stops chatting when you’re doing a stressful manoeuvre or your kids are screaming in the back, you might lose focus. Posted in Uncategorized RIDESHARE COMPANIES’ NEGLIGENCE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW •April 8, 2020 • Comments Off on Rideshare companies’ negligence: What you need to know There is an element of uncertainty when you undertake a taxi trip or a ride offered by a rideshare company such as Uber or Grab. You do not know whether you will reach your destination on time or safely without any untoward incident in between. On the issue of reaching your destination on time, the congestion in traffic or traffic diversion could upset the time schedule, which to a large extent is not under the control of the driver or the rideshare company. Most other elements that contribute to an unsatisfactory ride can be attributed to negligence on the part of the driver and indirectly the rideshare company that offers the ride. SERIOUS ELEMENTS OF UNSATISFACTORY RIDE Unsatisfactory rides could be categorized into serious and miscellaneous types. Among the serious elements there are severalwhich could include
* Rape, sexual and criminal assault by driver or co-passenger* Violent attacks
* A road accident causing an injury * A fatal road accident Such incidents affect riders both physically and mentally besides costing them huge amounts of money to prefer a suit against the driver, co-passenger and rideshare company through an attorney. MISCELLANEOUS ELEMENTS OF UNSATISFACTORY RIDE These types of unsatisfactory rides could include * Delay in pick up and drop off * Poor hygiene inside the vehicle * Poorly maintained vehicle * Speeding or unusually slow driving or violating traffic laws orreckless driving
* Distracted driving – consulting app or texting or talking on thephone
* Driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol * Driving while drowsy or tired Such elements may contribute to unsatisfactory rides and some of them could lead to serious consequences for the rider. INCREASE/DECREASE IN INCIDENTS While the data on assaults and crashes is collected sporadically, rideshare companies seem to collect data more systematically. Uber’sUS Safety report
found that from 2017 to 2018, Uber saw approximately a 16% decrease in the average incident rate of the 5 most serious sexual assault categories reported. On the other hand, a criminologist drawinginformation
from the same report found a 4% increase in reporting of sexual assaults to Uber for the year 2018 as compared to the reporting in 2017. Uber attributed this anomaly to the increase in the number of trips to 1.3 billion in 2018. WHAT CONSTITUTES NEGLIGENCE? The role of rideshare companies comes into limelight because they are corporate entities with huge reputations to preserve. They owe it to their customers to take utmost care when they offer their services. If they have taken sufficient care on their own and through others controlled by them, they will be construed as not being negligent. However, if their negligence causes loss to their customers, then they are liable for the damages and may have to compensate for theircustomers’ harm.
If you are unlucky enough to have an experience in the latter category, you have to understand the circumstances under which you can win a lawsuit for negligence. You have to satisfy the elements – duty, breach of duty, cause in fact, proximate cause and damages – by comparing facts, testimony and evidence to determine liability. This becomes complicated in many cases, and so it becomes important to carefully choose a lawyer that has experience in ride share injurycases
.
How do you satisfy the elements? Here is how: * Duty – The driver has a duty to offer safe and timely transportation service. If the driver neglects to perform this duty, the driver can be considered as negligent. * Breach of duty – The driver has to perform the duty following all established norms such as following traffic rules. If the driver breaches the traffic rules then he is guilty of breach of duty and he could be found negligent. * Cause in fact – The driver’s act of over speeding results in an accident and this is sufficient to satisfy the element of cause infact.
* Proximate cause – The driver sexually assaults the rider and cause harm to the rider. This is sufficient to satisfy the element ofproximate cause.
* Damages – The driver rapes the rider causing physical and emotional distress. The element of damages has been satisfied. When these elements are satisfied there is a case worth fighting as you have a fair chance of receiving adequate compensation. A truck bedliner is a necessity for anyone with a truck. Truck bedliners are a protective layer that lets you carry any kind of cargo without worrying about damaging your bed. They prevent your bed from damages such as dents, scratches, and rust. With so many truck bedliners on the market, it’s difficult to choose which one will fit your needs best. Even if fits your needs, does that mean it’s good? To make your search easier, check out this list of the top 10 truck bedliners in 2020. TYPES OF TRUCK BEDLINERS There are 5 common types of truck bedliners that offer decent protection. Depending on your needs, some will be better than others. High-pressure spray-on bedliners use a combination of polyurea andpolyurethane
.
During application, special equipment uses high-pressure and high-temperatures to apply the coating onto the truck bed. This type is the most resistant to scratches and offers a more even-texturedlayer.
Low-pressure spray-on bedliners uses low-pressure and low-temperature equipment to spray on the bedliner coat. Low-pressure liners have a rougher cottage-cheese texture and take longer to cure. They’re not as resistant to scratches as high-pressure liners. Drop-in truck bedliners are plastic liners that set inside the truck’s bed. They offer light protection but they aren’t long-lasting nor do they protect the bed from moisture. Over time, they start to warp and crack. Bed mats made from rubber or foam are similar to a drop-in liner but only cover the bottom of the truck bed. They help with impact absorption and protect from a few scratches. However, you’ll need to take out the mat and clean out the bed every couple of months as debris can get under it and scratch the bed. The most affordable option is a DIY bedliner. They’re not as thick or strong as spray-on unless you apply multiple coats. You can apply most DIY bedliners with a small roller. Knowing your options will help you find the right bedliner for your truck and your needs. THE 10 BEST TRUCK BEDLINERS Here are some of the most highly rated truck bedliners in 2020.
