From obs 5/9//21: "Yesterday we went to check out the new snow in Beehive Basin. We dug a pit on the south face of Peak 10602, and conducted an ECT with results ECTN8@20, ECTN11@30, and ECTN25@60. WEATHER AND AVALANCHE LOG Weather and Avalanche Log. Precip and wind are taken between 4-6 a.m. and are for the previous 24 hours. Precipitation is recorded in SWE from SNOTEL and Ski Areas. Overnight temps 40 F at 8,000-9,500'. 50-60 F at 6,000-7,500'. Overnight temps >0C below 8,000' elev. Last dailyavalanche forecast.

Lone Peak - Summit. The Lone Peak Summit station records temperature, wind speed, and direction on the Summit of Lone Mountain (11,162'). SPLITBOARDER TRIGGERED, CAUGHT AND KILLED IN BEEHIVE Notes. On February 14, 2021, two splitboarders triggered an avalanche in Beehive Basin north of Big Sky. They were skinning up the slope when they triggered the avalanche. 2/18/21 at 11:45 GNFAC forecaster observed with binoculars natural avalanche activity within new snow along ridgeline south of Bridger ski area to Bridger peak. There were two 50-100 foot wide slabs that broke in the recent storm snow, in the Pinnacles and on Bridger Peak. 2/18/21 at 11:45 GNFAC forecaster observed with binoculars natural avalanche activity within new snow along ridgeline south of Bridger ski area to Bridger peak. There were two 50-100 foot wide slabs that broke in the recent storm snow, in the Pinnacles and on Bridger Peak. We dug a pit on the south face of Peak 10602, and conducted an ECT with results ECTN8@20, ECTN11@30, and ECTN25@60. GLOSSARY OF AVALANCHE TERMS The downwind side of an obstacle such as a ridge. The addition of weight on top of a snowpack, usually from precipitation, wind drifting, or a person. An avalanche that releases from a point and spreads downhill collecting more snow - different from a slab avalanche. Also called a point-release or sluff. HOW TO VIDEOS: STABILITY TESTS One of the most basic stability tests is the Compression Test. It is quick and easy to do, but it only tests a small piece of snow.
