CHINESE REMAINDER THEOREM has 21 as a solution. The congruences y 3 1(mod7) and y 1 0(mod15) has 15 as a solution. Hence x= x 1y 1 + x 2y 2 + x 3y 3 = 2 70 + 3 21 + 2 15 = 233 is a solution. Since p 1p 2p 3 = 105, we see that 23 = 233 2 105 is the smallest solution. Example 4. This is due to Bhaskara in6th century.
