The moment of explosion of a missile that on 28 August 1944 hit the most modern skyscraper in Warsaw at the time, the seat of the Prudential insurance company, was captured by Sylwester Braun (1909–1996), known under the Uprising code-name Kris, in six consecutive shots. When he was travelling through the streets of Warsaw, he thought that the advertisements attached to shop windows were banners prepared especially for the occasion of his arrival and that “E. When on 17th of January 1945 the Soviet and Polish troops entered left-bank Warsaw, more than 90% of historic architecture was in ruins. Out of 987 historic buildings, 782 were completely destroyed, 141 partially destroyed and only 64 remained intact. 4 out of 64 churchessurvived.

The Museum is housed in eleven historic tenement houses located on the northern side of the Old Town Market Square, which was delineated ca. 1300. About the museum. The Heritage Interpretation Centre is a place of meetings and talks about Warsaw, especially about the reconstruction of the Old Town, which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. However, our activity is not focused only on the issues of destruction and post-war reconstruction. We support and organize a number ofTHE WARSAW DATA
The Warsaw Data. Statistical data gives us knowledge about reality expressed in the abstract language of mathematics. This section of the exhibition attempts to capture the unique character of Warsaw through the lens of such data, presented in the form of charts. maps and other graphic rep resentations. PLAN OF WARSAW BY THE MILITARY ENGINEER CORPS ON A SCALE The Military Engineer Corps, which worked on charting the cities on the territories of the Polish Kingdom in the constitutional period (1815–1832, Polish state created by the Congress of Vienna, dependent on Russia, but with its own constitution, Sejm, army and university), carried out precise measurements in Warsaw in the years1818–1819.

The moment of explosion of a missile that on 28 August 1944 hit the most modern skyscraper in Warsaw at the time, the seat of the Prudential insurance company, was captured by Sylwester Braun (1909–1996), known under the Uprising code-name Kris, in sixconsecutive shots.
