The Allante has almost been forgotten after production began in 2003 of a more modern and much more high performance Cadillac two seater, the 2004 XLR. This car was built on the Corvette’s chassis so naturally was a rocket ship from the word go. It was even built in the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, KY. THE CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE The multilink rear suspension is again borrowed from the SLK, but revised and modified by Chrysler to allow for wider 9×19 inch wheels at the rear, while the fronts sat at 7.5×18 inch. To accommodate for the wider wheels – and add to overall rigidity – the rear has a thicker anti-roll bar compared to the SLK, as well as firmer damping. THE HENNEY KILOWATT: A DARING ELECTRIC CAR FROM THE LATE The idea that car makers have been deliberately suppressing the development of electric vehicles is a myth. Throughout history, virtually all major manufacturers have dabbled in them. It’s just that they have had zero success. That unfortunately reality doesn’t mean it isn’t interesting to look back and see the mistakes thatthey made.

By an eerie coincidence the damage to Mike’s Rover 3500 in which he and his daughter were fatally injured in March 1981 was virtually identical to that of the Iso Grifo with head lights intact and the roof peeled off and twisted towards the left rear. 1962 EL TIBURON ROADSTER (THE SHARK) by Mike – Industrial designer Henry Covington of St. Petersburg, Florida set out in the early 1960s to build a car based on the aerodynamic principles of Dr. Augustus Raspet, a noted aerodynamics expert. The result was the 1962 El Tiburon Roadster (The Shark). Covington collaborated with fiberglass expert Glenn Gums of GlennIndustries for
ONE PITFALL IN DONATING A CLASSIC CAR TO One Pitfall In Donating A Classic Car To A Museum. Howard and Jane Turnley were very generous to donate one of the most important Bizzarrini cars to a museum. As you will read below, in their own words, they were not happy with the results of their generosity. Maybe we can all learn a lesson. AN ISO GRIFO IN AUSTRALIA An Iso Grifo In Australia. Stephen Hawkins sent in these photos and the video of his beautiful Iso Grifo No. 092/D restored by Stephen and his father, Ray Hawkins, and featured on an Australian TV show. This is the Grifo formerly owned by David Niven. ISO GRIFO GL 350 FOR SALE Simon, I respectfully disagree with you. This Iso is in wonderful original condition. It would be a crime to restore it. It has been oft said that “a car can only be original once”– To take out the factory original upholstery– which is in excellent condition– and replace it with something that is a facsimile of the real thing would be a shame and ultimately will lesson its value. THE MOST STATELY OFFENHAUSER ENGINE Offenhauser Engines. Offenhauser was an American engine design that dominated American open wheel racing for more than 50 years. The “Offy”, was developed by Fred Offenhauser and Harry A. Miller in the company owned by Miller until he went bankrupt in 1933. Offenhauser bought the business and with the help of Leo Goossen they developed the Miller engine into the Offenhauser engine.
