THE PERFECT CARIBBEAN HONEYMOON Anguilla. Anguilla is located at the northern end of the Leeward Islands chain in the Eastern Caribbean, a short 25-minute boat ride north of St. Martin. You won’t see any mountains or rainforest on Anguilla, as it is largely coral and limestone with limited vegetation. However, what it lacks in elevation, it makes up in gorgeous turquoise waters and stunning beaches, a total of 33 beaches A VISIT TO ANDROSIA BATIK Courtesy of our taxi driver, Mr. Pinder, it was a short drive to Androsia Batik in Fresh Creek, Andros, Bahamas. Androsia Batik is family-owned and operated and has been around since 1973. Every piece is made by hand. The designs are carved from sea sponge and each stamp is applied by hand to the fabric, making each piece unique. BARBUDA - MY IRIE TIME 2017 NATJA Awards: Finalist for Best Independent Travel Blog! Part of the twin island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbuda is the less-developed of the two. What it lacks in development, it makes up for in natural beauty. BLUE HOLES OF ANDROS, BAHAMAS Blue holes are vertical caves, formed by the slow erosion of the limestone bedrock of the island from acidic rainwater trickling through crevices in the limestone. Andros has the highest concentration of blue holes in the world, over 220 total, some inland, and some oceanic. In 1971, the famous diver Jacques Cousteau, releaseddye into the
BONEFISHING IN ANDROS, BAHAMAS When you travel to the “Bonefishing Capital of the World,” you have to give it a try, right? I’m not much of a fisherman, although I did go fishing quite a bit as a kid, and have never gone fishing on any of our trips to the Caribbean, but when I read an article in Garden and Gun about bonefishing in Andros, I thought we had to giveit a try.

People will remember a place or experience and it’s not easy to do justice to the memory. When Belmond took on the task of renovating the jewel of Anguilla resorts, Cap Juluca, people were optimistic that this was the right group to take on the task, and they TOP 10 THINGS TO DO ON NEVIS Some people think that when you’re on an island known for its natural beauty, there are few things to do but recline in a beach chair and soak up the sun. Although that’s certainly an option on Nevis, there are loads of things to do when you’re not relaxing. If you’re looking for things to NEVIS: SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE When you tell others that you are traveling to Nevis, you may receive a puzzled look. They may have heard of its sister island, St. Kitts, which lies just two miles off the coast, but Nevis has not come upon their radar. UNDERSTATED ELEGANCE AT KAMALAME CAY “I’ve never been to a place where the palm fronds clack together,” my husband said while sitting back in his beach chair facing the calm of Kamalame Cay. Coconut palms surrounded our chairs on what seemed to be our own personal beach. “You have,” I replied. “You have just never heard them before.” We have BEST CARIBBEAN BEACH BARS There’s nothing like a great beach bar – a place to kick back with a tropical beverage and listen to the sounds of the ocean or a local band playing island tunes. Unlike digital, where you have immediate feedback, you never quite know what you’ve got until you either develop your film or receive it back from your lab. With double exposures, the excitement is that much better. There are so many great restaurants, that you’ll have to create a short list. 2019 was our fifth trip to the island, so we’ve been to many places on previous trips. This trip, we returned to some favorites, and tried DIVINE DUO: BLANCHARDS AND BLANCHARDS BEACH SHACK, ANGUILLA January of 2019 marked our fifth trip to Anguilla. Every trip, we try a few new restaurants, but we can’t help but revisit our old favorites. In those previous trips, we somehow never made it to Blanchards, despite the fact that Melinda and Robert Blanchard’s book, A Trip to the Beach, drew us to the SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH THE MUSICAL BROTHERS AT THE PLACE, ANGUILLA It is remarkable how Anguilla has bounced back after Hurricane Irma, but there is a noticeable loss. Smokey’s at the Cove was our go-to place on Saturday afternoons. I remember our first trip to Anguilla, and walking down to Smokey’s from the CuisinArt. We heard the Musical Brothers playing Bob Marley tunes and Christmas carols, HAWKSBILL TURTLE HATCHING, MAUNDAY’S BAY, ANGUILLA It’s not every day that you get to see new life come into the world, especially when you’re on vacation. A morning walk along Maunday’s Bay in Anguilla ended in the excitement of seeing dozens of hawksbill turtles hatching, and make their way out to sea. We had just finished breakfast at Cap Juluca’s Cip’s HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS UNIVERSE GREAT BRITAIN! SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH OMARI BANKS AT DA VIDA, ANGUILLA I love Sunday afternoons at Da Vida on Anguilla. Omari Banks and his band perform, so you know you’ll have great music accompanying your lunch. The thing I love the most about Sunday afternoons is that families gather together. I love the buzz of families and friends enjoying a meal and catching up. This Sunday JACA-LOVE! HEAVENLY FRENCH CUISINE AT JACALA, ANGUILLA This trip to Anguilla was our fifth trip since 2007, but we had never been to Jacala before. For the first couple trips, it was not possible as Jacala opened in 2010 when Jacques Borderon and Alain Laurent left Malliouhana‘s Michel Rostang to start their own restaurant. Despite trips in 2010 and 2014, we had TOUR OF BELMOND CAP JULUCA Let’s take a tour of Belmond Cap Juluca which opened just in time for festive season in December of 2018. The star of the show is the beautiful stretch of sand along Maunday’s Bay. Each room is oceanfront with spectacular views. The rooms are beautifully appointed with comfortable furnishings in soft tones. Small things like BELMOND’S CAP JULUCA: A GRAND TRIBUTE TO THE ORIGINAL Taking on a legend is never easy.
