JAPAN « MY RTIPS
I'm going to japan. Who would've thought.. Not me, at least not the me three days before the scheduled flight. As always things got very hectic at work and I was considering, once again to drop it all and just stay in the safe comfiness of my bed for the two weeks that I was LA PALMA – DAYTIME « MY RTIPS La Palma offers plenty of activities, but the one it is most famous for is probably hiking. Therefore when I was visiting this time, I made sure to devote a few days to hiking and I was amply rewarded. The first hike I did was a hike through the Caldera, the cauldron. The weather wasn’t on our side, but in the end we found a night with minimal rain and cloud coverage according to my favourite weather forecast and decided on a date. MY RTIPS « MYRTI'S STUMBLE THROUGH THE WORLD The next morning I woke up very early again. I was dead set on finally getting into one of those “fills at 8am”-camping grounds. I reached the camping ground just before 8am and found out that said camping ground actually doesn’t open until 8am. THE GOLDEN CIRCLE AND HVERAVELLIR « MY RTIPS We kept the so called Golden Circle for our last full day on Iceland. The golden circle features the waterfall Gulfoss, Strokkur, Iceland's only Geyser and the historically relevant Þingvellir (pronounced Thingvetlir). I was expecting another top-nodge day, but I have to say that while it was a nice tour it did fall short of PAMUKKALE « MY RTIPS Pamukkale was one of the places I was particularly intrigued about. When we were planning our trip, my grand parents used the occasion to recount their fond memories of this place, the beautiful terraces and the ruins of the old city on top of it. A good friend THE JÖKULSÁRGLJÚFUR NATIONAL PARK « MY RTIPS To answer one of the most obvious question first: No I don't know how to pronounce this correctly. I do however have the answer to a different question: What is the meaning of Jökulsárgljúfur? Jökulsárgljúfur means glacier river canyon, which aptly describes what we would be seeing this day. We would be following the Jökulsá ILAHRA & DERINKUYU « MY RTIPS On our final day in Cappadocia we went for one of the "traditional" guided tours in the area, but since we were driving ourselves, we were free to stop and delay wherever we wanted. Our first stop was, you guessed it, a cave church. Or rather a complete monastery built into the mountain. We exploredSALTA « MY RTIPS

HUANCAYO « MY RTIPS Visit the post for more. The train ride to Huancayo was long but beautiful. It also had a certain ¨real Peru¨ feeling to it, as it started out by driving through the, let’s say less touristy, area of Lima’s outer circuits and, shortly after the top, through La Oreya, Peru’s most important mining area and recently dubbed one of the ten most polluted places on earth.MACHU PICCHU
What to say about Machu Picchu what hasn’t been said yet? It is amazing, it is beautiful, it is unique and it has A LOT OF stairs. After doing our trail,we stayed one night in Agua Calientes and took the bus up the next morning to Machu Picchu, we arrived just inTRIESTE « MY RTIPS
Due to the fact that my blog was created only after my trip to Croatia ended, I'm a little late on posting about that specific trip. It all started with a visit to my sister, who currently lives in Trieste. She'd invited me to visit her and we then decided to travel on toCroatia
TENERIFE – TOWNS « MY RTIPS Tenerife doesn't only have landscape, there's also a few very pretty and not so pretty towns and cities on the island. Some of them are worth a visit, like the oldest town there: La Laguna. From Mapiri on we took the boat downwards towards Rurrenabaque (it only took me a couple of weeks to learn how to pronounce and spell that name correctly. Only to find out in Rurre, that noone bothers with the full name and everyone just calls it Rurre.) This is easier said than done. The riverPUCON « MY RTIPS

La Paz also has a lot of history to share. During the red cap walking tour, I learned about the infamous (and pink) San Pedro prison. A low-security prison where everyone wants to go, because it’s basically just a small town inside the town. RURRE – PAMPAS TOUR « MY RTIPS Rurre – Pampas tour. Many people had told me that going to the Pampas actually provided a much higher chance to see wildlife and after having done the previous walk, I could easily see why. Even though we did get within ten meters of the boars, we never actuallyreally saw
SALTA TO HUMAHUACA « MY RTIPS From Salta you can do several trips in the surrounding country side. I had been told about a two-day trip to the north and a three-day trip in the south.. Looking at the map we saw that the Northern trip was 'only' 700km on a good road. We decided that this should totally bedoable
HUAYNA POTOSI « MY RTIPS The trek can be done in two or three days, but I would definitely recommend three if you’re a beginner. The first day is spent at ‘base camp’ acclimatizing and showing you the ropes with the gear and giving you a first taste of what ice climbing is like. LAGUNA LACHUA « MY RTIPS From Semuc Champey we continued on to Cobàn. The city itself is nothing to write home about, although we must say that it sports a surprising density of absolutely delicious restaurants. Rapa Nui may be a small island, but it consists of a good dozen individual (now extinct) volcanoes. Plenty of ‘mountains’ to climb onto then. 150km of road separate the national park Monteverde from the national park Manuel Antonio. We left in the late morning, after the zip-lining, assuming to reach Manuel Antonio in the early afternoon after several stops on the way. Things ended up going differently. THE FINAL DAY
My final day and I must admit I was a bit tired after all the walking I had done the previous two days. Nevertheless I had two more hikes on my schedule for the last day. The first was going to take me along several lakes lakes, whose still water reflected the surrounding mountains perfectly. … Continue reading →CASCADE CANYON

I reached the camping ground just before 8am and found out that said camping ground actually doesn’t open until 8am. The next thing I found out was that said camping ground … Continue reading →UNION FALLS
For my final hike in Yellowstone I had picked out a lovely hike to some waterfalls (and if I didn’t take to long on that first hike, a second shorter hike to different water falls). It was the hike I was most worried about. It was a long hike and it was in an isolated … Continue reading → FROM CANYON VILLAGE TO FLAGG RANCH From Canyon village I had to hurry down to Flagg ranch. Because Flagg ranch was another one of those campsites that didn’t take reservations. I didn’t let it hurry me too much, as I spent another hour walking around the canyon and enjoying the intermittent sun on the canyon. It truly is an amazing sight! … Continue reading → ON THE WAY TO THE CANYON The next morning I woke early and in a panic. It smelled of smoke! It took a moment for me to realize that the smell was cold smoke rather than hot. Nevertheless I got up and started packing up. No point in waiting around for the fire to appear. Once I arrived in the town, … Continue reading →BUNSEN PEAK
Today was my first full day hike, or so I thought. I misunderstood my guiding book which turned an assumed nine hour hike into barely five. But it was a very nice hike, which I can recommend. It leads up Bunsen peak and then back down to the Osprey waterfall before following an old road … Continue reading → WEST YELLOWSTONE TO MAMMOTH I had checked when the next campsite had filled the last few days and figured I’d have until at least noon before they ran out of space. So I decided to take a gamble and visit the Norris geyser on my way up to Mammoth rather than drive up, plant my tent and drive back … Continue reading →LATEST EXPLORATIONS
