Cinema newsreels of the 1930s to early 60s used dramatic re-creations and voice-overs AUSTRALIAN AWARD-WINNING ANIMATED SHORT FILMS There are over 1,000 Australian animated short films in the NFSA collection, with the earliest here dating back to the 1920s. Examples in this curated collection encompass analogue techniques like hand-drawn cel animation, through to 2D and stop-motion animation and purely digital works complete with 3D computer-generated imagery. ALBERT NAMATJIRA: HIS LIFE AND ART Albert Namatjira was born and raised at a Lutheran Mission outside Alice Springs. He showed a keen interest in art from an early age but spent his formative years working as a camel driver, stockperson and blacksmith. Wirth's Circus arriving and performing. This 8mm footage of Wirth's Circus was shot by unknown American tourists who filmed in Australia and New Zealand in the 1950s. The footage shows the circus unloading their gear from a train with the GRAHAM KENNEDY AND BERT NEWTON Poached from rival HSV7 at Graham's suggestion, Bert Newton joined GTV9 in 1959. Friends with Graham since their days on rival Melbourne radio stations, the duo displayed an immediate on-screen chemistry when paired together.
