ABOUT US | NHMC NATIONAL HISPANIC MEDIA COALITION Elevating Latino VoicesOn Air and Online. The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is a 35 year old nonprofit 501 (c) (3) civil rights organization that was founded to eliminate hate, discrimination, and racism towards the Latinx community. We educate and increase visibility of Latinx from Washington D.C. to Hollywood and around theworld.
NHMC’S 2021 PRIORITIES NHMC’s 2021 Priorities. Coming into 2021, the Latinx community was brutalized. Our children were in cages, families were separated, and our women were sexualized in the media while being sterilized by the government in real life. Nearly half of America voted for a President who deemed us criminals and rapists, and fought to keep us divided NHMC’S SERIES SCRIPTWRITERS PROGRAM For nearly twenty years, the NHMC Series Scriptwriters Program has helped launch the careers of more than 200 Latinx writers. Ten diverse Latinx writers nationwide are selected for a five-week intense writers lab. At the end of the program, these writers will have either a half-hour or hourlong original series pilot, which they will pitch toJOBS CENTER

LATINX STREAM SHOWCASE The Latino Scene Showcase, founded in 2012, cultivates emerging talent to write, act and direct 5-minute scenes of original scripts written, performed and directed by graduates of the NHMC’s programs. Rehearsals are mandatory. Conducted twice in one-day, the showcase allows 400+ entertainment industry executives, talent representatives, and casting directors to watch the scenes and later connect and network with participants. The goal is for participants to break intonetwork television.

NEW YORK IMPACT AWARDS RECEPTION The New York Impact Awards Reception, convened by the National Hispanic Media Coalition annually during Hispanic Heritage Month in October, honors journalists, media outlets, civil rights organizations, and community leaders amplifying the voices of Latinos.VIEW EVENT

Broadcast licenses held by people of color remain far below 10 percent at a time when over a third of Americans are people of color. Latinos are severely underrepresented as media owners, despite being one of the fastest growing ethnic groups in the US with $1.5 trillion inpurchasing power.
