When a 76kg elephant seal was discovered on Garvies Beach in Durban, bystanders realised he may be in trouble. A collaborative effort by Station 5 (Durban), uShaka Marine World and Durban Metro Police ensured he was brought to safety quickly. It can be tricky to know if beached seals need assistance, asthey may

WATER SAFETY LESSONS IN SCHOOLS Sea Rescue’s 2020 team of Water Safety Instructors. Our twenty-one, full time professional water safety instructors visit schools from Soweto to Khayelitsha and from Ceres to Port St Johns, teaching children about water safety, what to do in an emergency, who to call for help, how to safely help a friend in an emergency and how to doHandsOn CPR.

SA WEATHER SERVICE (SAWS) ALERT The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a ‘level 1 warning’ for damaging waves valid from Friday 4 June until Saturday 5 June between Cape Columbine and Plettenberg Bay from Friday evening into Saturday Morning.
