WORKING FOR NUS @ NUS CONNECT Build a career somewhere that celebrates difference At NUS we encourage everyone to always explore new ways of working that will win for students and help students’ unions improve how they work for their members (students). That’s why we’ve always celebrated and recognised diversity and difference; we’ve seen how different viewpoints, experiences and knowledge can shape a better world WE DID SOME RESEARCH INTO STUDENT DRUG USE. HERE'S WHAT WE Earlier this year, we undertook a study looking into student drug use. Today we launch our findings. Read our report on student drug use. This February, NUS Trans Campaign and NUS Welfare Zone launched a study into student drug use.The study was in two parts; a UK-wide survey into the attitudes, environments, and impacts of student drug use conducted by NUS, and a policy analysis STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS COULD BE ON THE HORIZON @ NUS NUS-USI has published the findings of its student wellbeing survey, providing a clear picture of the current scale of the pressures and challenges faced by the student body in Northern Ireland and the extent to which those pressures impact upon the mental health and wellbeing of students.. Over 3,600 students took part in the research, and these findings help to underline the need for stable TAKING THE HIT: STUDENT DRUG USE AND HOW INSTITUTIONS Taking the hit: student drug use and how institutions respond. This didn’t bother him much until he discovered that some people he knew didn’t believe the Holocaust happened. From 9/11 to shape-shifting lizards and Holocaust denial, this is a darkly comic tale of one man’s journey through the conspiracy underworld. Marlon Solomon’s Conspiracy Theory: A Lizard’s Tale TRIBUTE TO ROGER TRASK @ NUS CONNECT Tribute to Roger Trask in FONUS Winter Newsletter, December 2019 Photo from left-right: Roger Trask, Margaret Wallis, Stella Greenall and Francis Beckett Roger Trask, who has died at the age of 73, was appointed as NUS International Manager at a time of change in the National Union’s approach to its international work. Becky Ricketts has been elected President of NUS Wales for the next two years. Becky, who is currently Group President at Trinity Saint David Students’ Union (TSDSU), will begin her two-year term in summer 2020. FIVE IDEAS… FACTS AND FIGURES ABOUT LAST YEAR’S SU With elections now drawing to a close, we thought it would be a great time to reflect on last year’s NUS Elections Report. Here’s just a few key facts and figures from the 2015 sabbatical elections: An average of 200 staff hours were allocated to elections per students’ union. A voter average turnout of 17.83 per cent.
