OFAH membership includes a $5,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) policy. OFAH members’ excess personal public liability insurance coverage is valid anywhere in Canada. LAKE SCUGOG WALLEYE CLOSURE The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has decided that effective January 1st, 2016, no Walleye fishing on Lake Scugog will be allowed until further notice. The seasons for other fish species are not affected by this decision and Lake Scugog will remain open to recreational angling under current regulations. LAKE SCUGOG WALLEYE CLOSURE The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has decided that effective January 1st, 2016, no Walleye fishing on Lake Scugog will be allowed until further notice. The seasons for other fish species are not affected by this decision and Lake Scugog will remain open to recreational angling under current regulations. UPDATE On May 20, 2021, the Ontario government announced changes to its reopening plans. The provincial Stay at Home Order is still in effect but the province is relaxing restrictions on certain outdoor recreational amenities effective Saturday, May 22nd, 2021. The OFAH understands that the uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential impact on fishing and hunting in Ontario has raised many questions within the outdoors community. With that in mind, we have updated our original list of frequently asked questions and answers for anglers and hunters. The Government of Ontario announced the closure of Crown land camping across the province as part of new measures aimed and curbing the spread of COVID-19. At this time, activities including hunting and fishing remain permitted. You can read the full announcement here. Please follow all safety requirements laid out by the Province, check with your local health unit for local advice, and OFAH ONTARIO ANGLER AWARDS The OFAH Ontario Angler Awards is a free province-wide program that officially promotes and recognizes recreational angling efforts in Ontario by both resident and non-resident anglers. This program has been developed to serve as a vehicle to promote sportfishing in Ontario and to encourage the use of the wonderful sustainable resource with a friendly competitive twist. COMMUNITY HATCHERY PROGRAM Community-based fish culture is built on a foundation of passion, dedication and genuine concern for resource management. For decades, thousands of hatchery volunteers have raised and stocked fish to improve our recreational fisheries and educate the people of Ontario about our fisheries resource. OFAH/ONTARIO RECORD FISH REGISTRY The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) | Ontario Record Fish Registry has been developed to recognize the largest fish legally angled from Ontario public waters. Almost fifty game and nongame fish categories (see Record Fish Listing for eligible fish categories) will receive recognition.
