REVIEW: KONOVA SLIDER SUPPORT ARMS The Konova Slider Support Arms deliver and excel in this task. One of the key design elements I felt was perfected, was how the top-section mounts to the slider itself. It is a comprehensive look at their respective feature sets and offers a great side-by-side comparison. THE “HYBRID SUITE” REVEALED Controlled Environment Once my primary objectives of comfort, excitement, and creative mojo are laid as foundation in the premise of the suite, the next thing I do is figure out how I can make all that work within two base factors: a controlled environment for the work that will be done in it and the key components of the type of work. that will be performed in it. FAIRLIGHT PART 1: THE DAWN OF A RESOLVED ERA For the last 2 to 3 years I’ve been at a loss with finding a solution to this problem. My hope was to (A) do away with ProTools altogether, (B) use alternative professional DAW software that was fast and high-end, (C) and was completely modular so that I could grow into a larger control surface mixing console as needed. ADAM AUDIO STUDIO MONITORS COMPARED For listening tests, I’ve been combining sources that we typically work with, from feature film work (dialog, sound effects, music scores), to commercial/corporate work, to a wide variety of music genres (film soundtracks, 70’s classic rock, big band, classical/orchestral, ambient, 80’s pop, 90’s hip hop, EDM, acoustic, and pop rock from the 90’s to current). MOUNTING DEVICES TO THE URSA MINI Next on the list is a quick release plate. There are TONS of quick-release plates on the market and you may already have one. For this setup, I used a Giottos MH 652 quick-release system because the QR release knob extends out, making it easier and quicker to release the device from the URSA Mini when needed.
