The trail starts along a cool, green canyon, and then takes you up through chaparral to high meadows filled with lupine, poppies, and blue-eyed grass during thespringtime.
RIDGE TRAIL AT RUSSIAN RIDGE OPEN SPACE PRESERVE More About Russian Ridge Preserve. This 3,137-acre preserve is known for its spring wildflowers, but it has much to offer all year round. It is one of the best places in the Bay Area to see raptors; including red-tailed hawks, turkey vultures, Cooper’s hawks, sharp-skinned hawks and even golden eagles. CONDORS ARE RETURNING TO THE SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS I’m freaking out. The California condor is slowly returning to our beloved Santa Cruz Mountains, back from the very brink of extinction. In May of 2014, a three-year-old female known as Lupine flew more than 100 miles north from Pinnacles National Park in San Benito County and landed on private property near Pescadero. It was later photographed by a motion-activated wildlife camera, and OUR FAVORITE WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE AND EASY ACCESS TRAILS Description: This is arguably one of the most scenic wheelchair accessible trails near the urban areas of the Peninsula. HIKE COWELL-PURISIMA COASTAL TRAIL IN HALF MOON BAY Cowell-Purisima Coastal Trail Hike Information. The Cowell-Purisima Trail lies just south of Half Moon Bay. It is a part of the California Coastal Trail which will one day span the entire length of the state. It is, by far, one of our staff’s most cherished trails. The views of the Pacific, pastoral setting and gentle grade make this arguably 3 U-PICK BERRY LOCATIONS IN THE BAY AREA TO VISIT THIS Webb Ranch, located in Portola Valley just off the 280, is a family-owned and operated farm in the heart of Silicon Valley. They offer locally grown organic produce, horse boarding and riding lessons as well as a u-pick pumpkin patch in the fall, a “Santa’s Village” with Christmas trees in the winter, and u-pick berries inthe summer.

Behind the house, wooded hills rise to the crest at Skyline BEST PLACES TO SEE THE SUPERMOON IN THE BAY AREA The Foot of the Dumbarton Bridge. Overview: The southernmost bridge crossing the Bay is the Dumbarton Bridge. Unbeknownst to many, there is a pedestrian walkway that is accessible from the Shoreline Trail parking area. This scenic area is a great place to get some truly amazing shots of the supermoon rising over the Bay. 3 U-PICK BERRY LOCATIONS IN THE BAY AREA TO VISIT THIS R&R Fresh Farms grows four acres of u-pick olallieberries, blackberries and strawberries and offers an assortment of products in their farmstand. The farm is owned and operated by Jose Ramirez, one of the only first-generation Mexican-American farm business owners on the coast.Jose is currently leasing his 25-acre farm from POST. Overview: A relatively flat, 12-mile ride along Crystal Springs Reservoir, with views of Skyline Boulevard Distance: 12 miles round trip Elevation change: 600 ft Difficulty: Moderate Biking time: 1.5 hours Season: All year. The trail can get quite crowded on nice days, so head out early.* __
