SONY E 10-18MM F/4 OSS (SEL-1018) The 10-18mm OSS exhibits a moderate degree (2.2%) of barrel distortion at 10mm - while this is visible, it is actually a very good figure at such a focal length. The Sony 30mm f/2.8 DT is a budget macro prime lens for the Sony Alpha system. As a designated DT ("Digital Technology") lens it is compatible to APS-C DSLRs only. Just like most recent DT lenses it features the new SAM ("Smooth Autofocus Motor") so it no longer depends on the dated AF drive screw system which is still used by SONY E 55-210MM F/4.5-6.3 OSS (SEL-55210) The Sony E 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS got a companion to cover the mid to long tele range - the Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS. Both lenses are also sold in some double lens kits with a NEX camera. The 55-210mm OSS has a 3.8x zoom ratio which is about typical for such kit zoom lenses. The max. aperture of f/6.3 at 210mm is slower than average though PENTAX SMC-FA 35MM F/2 AL The front element does not rotate so using a polarizer is not a problem. The FA 35mm f/2 AL has no internal AF motor and relies on a slotted drive screw operated by the camera. As a result AF operation will generate a moderate degree of noise. The AF speed is very fast SIGMA AF 50-150MM F/2.8 EX DC HSM (NIKON MOUNT) The Sigma AF 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM is one of two large aperture tele zoom dedicated to APS-C DSLRs (the other one is the Tokina AF 50-135mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX). Its field-of-view is equivalent to 75-225mm on full format cameras. As such these lenses are basically a revival of the classic 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms (on full format cameras). CANON EF 28-70MM F/3.5-4.5 II With a min. focus distance of 0.39m the max. object magnification is about 1:5 at 70mm. The lens is fairly compact and light weight with a size of 70x76mm and a weight of just 285g. The filter size is 52mm. Mechanically the lens isn´t overly impressive. The zoom mechanism is rather stiff and the focus ring operation feels rather scratchy which SIGMA 150-600MM F/5-6.3 HSM DG OS CONTEMPORARY The center performance is still pretty good at 450mm but the quality of the outer image region drops substantially. At 600mm, the center quality is still good at f/6.3 but very fine details are gone here. The near-center quality drops quite a bit here and the borders/corners are just soso. In essence, you should stop down to f/8 if you can. MICRO-NIKKOR AF-S 105MM F/2.8G IF-ED VR Vignetting. The AF-S 105mm VR is a full frame lens thus enjoying a sweet spot behavior on the D200. Nonetheless it still shows a moderate degree of vignetting at wide-open aperture. From f/4 and up the problem is negligible. Vignetting is no issue at very close focusdistances.

Chromatic aberrations (color shadows) are most pronounced at large aperture settings where they can be disturbing at times (with an average width 1.39 to 1.26 pixels towards the borders). CANON RF 50MM F/1.2 USM L The build quality of the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 USM L is exceptional. The body is made of a combination of metal and high-quality plastic parts based on a metal mount. It features a weather-resistant design that protects against dust and moisture. There is, however, an inner lens tube that moves during focusing. The focus ring operates smoothly. 7ARTISANS 12MM F/2.8 (SONY E-MOUNT) Verdict. When reviewing a sub-200 dollar lens other than maybe a nifty fifty, you don't expect much really. However, the 7Artisans 12mm f/2.8 is actually a positive surprise. Yes, of course, it is not without flaws. However, the center is dead sharp and the outer image field is actually pretty good at optimal settings. FUJINON XF 16-80MM F/4 R OIS WR Introduction. With the XF 16-80/4 R OIS WR Fujifilm offers a general purpose standard zoom that covers the popular range of 24 to 120 mm (FF equivalent). It offers a moderate but constant f/4 aperture throughout the whole zoom range. With this lens, Fujifilm fills a gap that existed before, even though they offered several standard zoomlenses
SIGMA AF 20MM F/1.8 EX DG RF (FX) Sigma offers a trio of fast wide angle lenses, featuring focal lengths of 20, 24 and 28 mm. All three lenses share a maximum aperture of f/1.8 and a very short minimum focus distance, which allows for interesting and often dramatic perspectives of close subjects. In this review we'll have a look at how the 20mm lens performs on our currentFX
SIGMA 45MM F/2.8 DG DN CONTEMPORARY While the lens is not fully weather-sealed, it does at least offer a dust/splash-proof mount. The AF is pretty fast and near-silent. Focusing works "by-wire" albeit you only notice this due to the lack of a focus distance indicator on the lens. Needless to say but the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary is compatible with Sony's digitalauto
SAMYANG AF 85MM F/1.4 EF The Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 EF uses a linear, ultrasonic AF motor which is quite fast and silent. Unfortunately, we weren't really happy with its AF accuracy which was way off (back-focus) in our sample. Samyang is offering the so-called "lens station" (optional) MICRO-NIKKOR AF 105MM F/2.8 D The Micro-Nikkor AF 105mm f/2.8 D is one of Nikon's classic tele macro lenses. At the PMA 2006 the lens has been discontinued in favor of the new AF-S 105mm f/2.8 ED VR but the AF 105mm lens is still readily available from many suppliers. Due to the very similar pricing the lens will have a hard time findings its customers but naturally it NIKKOR AF-S 85MM F/1.8 G (FX) The predecessor of this lens, the AF-D 85/1.8, is well known for a tendency to emphasize purple fringing at large apertures. While we haven't had a chance to test the new AF-S 85/1.8 regarding this issue in the field (due to lack of strong sunshine), the lab tests did not indicate such a behaviour. PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 14-45MM F/3.5-5.6 ASPH OIS The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH OIS is the standard kit zoom lens of the first micro-4/3 system camera - the Panasonic Lumix G1. Unfortunately, we weren't really happy with its AF accuracy which was way off (back-focus) in our sample. Samyang is offering the so-called "lens station" (optional) NIKKOR AF 24MM F/2.8 D (FX) Review by Markus Stamm, published May 2011 Introduction The Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 is a wide prime that has been around for quite a while. The still current AF-D version of the lens was introduced in 1994, however the basic design goes back to the Ai version, which was brought to market in 1977 already. The zoom mechanism is rather stiff and the focus ring operation feels rather scratchy which SONY FE 28MM F/2 (SEL28F20) Anyway, at least Sony IS still offering a quite fast FE 28mm f/2. It's also one of the more affordable Sony FE prime lenses at around 450USD/400EUR. As you can see in the product images, it is a very compact lens despite its comparatively high speed. It's a rather simple being but the build quality is very good. SIGMA AF 50-150MM F/2.8 EX DC HSM (NIKON MOUNT) Review by Klaus Schroiff, published May 2007 Lens kindly provided for testing purposes by Markus Wegerhoff! Introduction The Sigma AF 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM is one of two large aperture tele zoom dedicated to APS-C DSLRs (the other one is the Tokina AF 50-135mmf/2.8 AT-X Pro DX).
CANON EF 28-105MM F/3.5-4.5 USM Introduction. The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 was a quite popular standard zoom during the film era and possibly it will regain its former significance once full frame sensors will eventually enter the mainstream market but on the current APS-C DSLRs it is a quite exotic lens with a field of view similar to a ~45-168mm full-formatequivalent.
NIKKOR AF 70-210MM F/4 Introduced back in 1986 the Nikkor AF 70-210mm f/4 was the first AF tele-zoom lens introduced by Nikon. The constant aperture is an attractive feature of the lens but for whatever reason this affordable Nikkor was only manufactured for a few years so you will only find it on the used market these days. Surprisingly Nikon did not release anynew
PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 14-45MM F/3.5-5.6 ASPH OIS The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH OIS is the standard kit zoom lens of the first micro-4/3 system camera - the Panasonic Lumix G1. The design of the lens differs from conventional SLR lenses because it doesn't need to take a SLR mirror into account anymore. While the lens does still come without AF, the in-focus confirmation in the camera viewfinder is available. Keep in mind, however, that isn't really an overly accurate way of focusing on a telelens. Instead, you should use focus magnification which is a good idea anyway at very CANON EF 200MM F/2.8 L USM II The lens features 8 aperture blades. The filter size is 72mm. With a weight of 765g and a size of 83x136mm it is fairly compact and light weight for such a large aperture lens. Both lenses are also sold in some double lens kits with a NEX camera. The 55-210mm OSS has a 3.8x zoom ratio which is about typical for such kit zoom lenses. The max. aperture of f/6.3 at 210mm is slower than average though CANON EF-M 22MM F/2 STM This works nicely and it's very precise actually. The product images provide a comparison of the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM (left) to the EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM (for APS-C EOS DSLRs). You may debate whether the difference in size is significant (percentage-wise that is) but remember that the EF-M lens is a full stop faster and a bit wider! TAMRON SP 15-30MM F/2.8 DI VC USD G2 The SP 15-30/2.8 VC G2 uses Tamron's version of an ultrasonic drive called USD. AF operations are virtually silent and fast albeit the precision could have been better in our example at least. Manual focusing is always possible in one-shot AF mode. We were unable toload Disqus.

PANASONIC LUMIX G 14MM F/2.5 ASPH Review by Sebastian Milczanowski, published April 2011. Introduction. The Panasonic Lumix G 14mm f/2.5 ASPH is - besides the the Panasonic Lumix G 20mm f/1.7 ASPH and the Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f/2.8 Pancake - the third pancake lens available for micro-four-thirds system cameras. SONY 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6 SAM DT Vignetting The vignetting characteristic is about average for such a kind of lens. The light falloff is worst at 18mm @ f/3.5 but that's basically the only really "bad" spot where the issue gets really moreobvious.

7ARTISANS 12MM F/2.8 (SONY E-MOUNT) Competition It is a bit difficult to name the correct competitors in this scope because the pricing of the 7Artisans 12mm f/2.8 (left) is on a very different level compared to the mainstream offerings. NIKKOR AF-S 85MM F/1.8 G (FX) The predecessor of this lens, the AF-D 85/1.8, is well known for a tendency to emphasize purple fringing at large apertures. While we haven't had a chance to test the new AF-S 85/1.8 regarding this issue in the field (due to lack of strong sunshine), the lab tests did not indicate such a behaviour. FUJINON XF 10-24MM F/4 R OIS Review by Klaus Schroiff, published January 2015 Introduction Fujifilm has done some miracles during the last few years. They were a late starter with their mirrorless system but when looking at their current system, you have to recognize that they can easily match "older" systems already and in many aspects they are actually ahead now.Got it!
