BANANA BLOOD DISEASE Banana blood disease. Symptoms: Blood disease is a wilt caused by a bacterium that invades the vascular tissues. The name blood disease was originally adopted because droplets of a thick milky white, yellow or red-brown liquid often ooze out of the vascular tissues of infected plants at cut surfaces. The disease affects cultivars of both AAA AUSTRALIAN SAP BEETLE Australian sap beetle. Adult body length 1.8-2.4mm, dark to light reddish brown, pronotum strongly convex, anterior angles rounded, disc densely punctate, mesoventrite punctate. FUSARIUM WILT OF CHICKPEA Symptoms. The fungus infects chickpeas via the roots and moves throughout the host’s vascular system. Cell wall degrading enzymes produced by the pathogen break down the host cell walls to form gels that block the plant’s transport systems and cause yellowing and wilting symptoms.
