SHIFTING FROM SHARED TO COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING: A Abstract Summary: Despite its theoretical appeal, the concept of shared decision making in the clinical encounter has yet to translate into practice. In this article we revisit this approach and suggest an alternative we have labeled "collaborative decision making," which may lead to more equitable and more favorable outcomes. We define collaborative decision making as THE PATIENT ACTIVATION MEASURE (PAM): A FRAMEWORK FOR The PAM helps providers understand where a patient is starting from. For providers, the PAM is like another “vital sign” telling them essential information they need to effectively work with the patient. Thirteen questions are asked, and patients are scored as level 1, 2, 3 or 4: This 45 slide presentation tells more. The words we use are one of the most potent ingredients in the science of language. Words have the power to heal, guide and motivate. They can confuse, mislead, and even hurt us. The intent of USE OF CONJOINT ANALYSIS TO DETERMINE PATIENT PREFERENCES Abstract Summary: Introduction: Understanding patient preferences facilitates doctor-patient communication and enhances patient-centered care. Urethral stricture, which has no definitive treatment guidelines favoring endoscopic incision or open reconstruction, exemplifies a condition in which consideration of patient preference is especially important in making a treatment choice.
