It was Claudet who solved the problem of making portraits by reducing the exposure time from the 15-30 minutes of motionless posing that madethem impractical.

HOW TO ANALYSE A PHOTOGRAPH Ultimately, the point of analysing works is to understand how history, religion, society, culture etc. effects out understanding of images. When you know what objects represent and the possible interpretations of an image you understand it’s core meaning, and when you have that information, you can apply it FIRST PICTURES EVER TAKEN FROM THE HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY The first ever photographic image captured via the use of a camera and optics was made in either 1826 or 1827 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and is titled “View from the Window at Le Gras”. The photograph was taken from the upstairs windows of Niépce’s estate in the Burgundy region of France. Around 1822 he experimented with Bitumen ofTHE DAGUERREOTYPE
Suppliers of chemicals and apparatus were besieged by would-be photographers anxious to try it. The instruction manual written by Daguerre ran into 29 editions before the end of 1839. As the news spread, there was the same excitement in other countries in Europe, and in America, where the first daguerreotype was made in September1839.

On the 23rd of March, 1841, an enterprising patent speculator and coal merchant from Blackfriars, Richard Beard, opened the first professional portrait studio in England (and probably in Europe).
