The legal, historical, regulatory and contextual backgrounds to their establishment were outlined, including the roles of the national Government and the Department. The Department provided information on SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS CORPORATE PLAN & TURNAROUND STRATEGY The Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Sifiso Buthelezi, spoke of the challenges at SAA, but that there was a belief that the airline could be returned to profitability. National Treasury had had to give a guarantee of R4.72 billion to ensure that the challenge of SAA remaining a going concern was attended to in the 2015/6 annual financial statements. AMENDMENT OF HOURS OF WORK FOR SECURITY GUARDS 2.3. In respect of security guards who under the old Act were entitled to work 60 hours a week, Section 5 of the transitional provisions say that security workers wages should have gone down to 55 hours per week, one year after the Act was put into effect, 50 hours after the next year and to 45 hours per week in the third year. 2.4.
