TIPTRONIC FAULT????
Hi All, Drove the Boxster today and no issues whatsoever! Still put the car on a hoist and blew out and cleaned the gearbox wiring connection. The outside of the connection was filthy with years ofencrusted crud.

So I have a few basic questions, sorry in advance if the answers are obvious but I'm completely new to Porsche. 1: Is it worth paying the price differential between the 991.1 and 991.2 for the 911 Turbo? 2: There don't seem to be may available online- is that MANUAL 997.2 IS IT REALLY THAT RARE?! I think because the 997.2 was the first release of the PDK (and everybody talked it up so much as release time) the world went nuts for it. In 2010 Porsche sold around 5700 997's versus 13,100 in 2007 (pre GFC) and I'm led to believe around 2 in 10 997.2's were manual versus 7 of 10 for the 997.1's. So that gives you an indication ofjust how

Posted 9January, 2019. It SHOULD be but on the car I am helping with, the plate isn't there. It IS an Australian car. Not sure where else it could be on the early 2.5's. The owner 2006 + CAYMAN S IMS ISSUES Ride/s:987.2 Basalt Black Cayman. Report post. Posted 28March, 2013. Hi people, I was under the impression (obviously wrongly) that the IMS issue really only affected the 986 Boxster and the 996's. I now find out it is also a problem in the Caymans that were first launched in 2006. However supposedly fixed in the Gen 2 987 Cayman. NO 996 GT3'S FOR SALE IN AUSTRALIA? Only 1 series 1 and a handful of series 2's for sale in UK. What's going on lads? 996 gt3 starting to be tightly held? BTW, a plethora of 991 gt3's for sale. For around 240-250k, has to be the best value supercar on the market. Just because they’re not on Carsales doesn’t mean there are none for sale. HOW DO I FIND MY ENGINE NUMBER? You found the engine number. M9720 = Engine type. 6 = Number of Cylinders. 8 = Generation of Engine Type. 7 = Year of Manufacture (year of car 2007) 68701 = Last 5 digits is the serial number of theengine
TRACKING A TIPTRONIC 997 Simonk. One of the first questions I get asked when I tell people I have a 997 is “is it auto or manual”. “It’s an auto” I respond in a somewhat unenthusiastic manor. I then go ahead and justify my reasoning for buying an auto. “It’s a daily, my wife can’t drive manual, I spend a PDK RELIABILITY ??- HELP !! The first was " Drive Temperature too high Reduce Load" Yellow. Second was "Start stop activation disabled" Yellow. Third was " Gearbox faulty Poss. no R gear" Yellow. In between there was a RED stop the car to cool down, as well as a "Sports mode not allowed".TIPTRONIC FAULT????
No, not me. I only drive my 944 on the weekends. I bought my 2014 991.1 Carrera S in January 2017. Immediately after I purchased it from PCSS when testing it out on the Putty Road I had a COV fault which was replaced under warranty. I had an oil change service in Jan 2018. 996 TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS TL;DR: For day to day drive plus occasional track days, recommendation from everyone below is Michelin Pilot Sport 2 - regardless whether 17" or 18" wheels I am looking for replacement tyres. I wasn't able to find an existing thread so I thought I would start one. My understanding is that the default tyre sizes for 996s are: OLD SHITTERS TO COP A NEW CHARGE IN FUTURE? When I was living in Europe, many many cities started to introduce low emission zones. I lived in Antwerpen in Belgium for 10 years and around 4 years ago they introduced a low emission zone right across the city to the extent that I could not even drive my 964 RS out of the garage and down the street without incurring fine. SUBARU IMPREZA/WRX APPRECIATION THREAD Similar to the Datsun 1600 Appreciation thread I started a few years ago we seem to have a few Subaru people in the group too. I have had a couple, a WRX in the past and currently the first model Subaru Impreza (build date May 1993 so its one of the first Imprezas to arrive here. One owner). Here
BATTERY CHARGER ON A 911 QUESTION a 911 993 and 911 997 , each on its own continuous battery charger, how often should the car engine be started ? how long can you keep the BC on without ill effects on the car? and how often would you advise each car be actually driven vs turning the engine on? HOW LONG DOES THE TIPTRONIC TRANSMISSION LAST ON 996/997 Dealer said the tiptronic is indeed from Mercedes-Benz in 997.1. He claimed that in normal driving conditions the tiptronic should last a very long time before rebuild, perhaps 250,000km or more. He claimed the 997.1 engine should also last at least as long if properly maintained and not raced, etc.HARDTOP FOR BOXSTER
The problem with the ones from the UK is that the sellers always insist on pick up only. They also range in cost between 600 GBP - 1200 GBP. If you factor in shipping and GST, cost usually comes up to $3K AUD. I don't know the cost of ordering a brand new one from the dealers, but I suspect it will be close to $5K AUD. QUESTION RE CLUB PLATES IN VIC hi all apologies if this question is in the wrong part of the forum, but wasnt quite sure where to post it. in VIC, if i am buying a car privately from someone who has the car on normal rego and i put it on club plates, is it correct that i dont have to pay stamp duty? but i still have to complet BUTT SHOT - PAGE 163 - PORSCHE GALLERY & INTRODUCTIONS - PFA PFA This is an online platform for like-minded Porsche fans/fanatics/tragics to come together to read, chat and share.
MANUAL 997.2 IS IT REALLY THAT RARE?! I think because the 997.2 was the first release of the PDK (and everybody talked it up so much as release time) the world went nuts for it. In 2010 Porsche sold around 5700 997's versus 13,100 in 2007 (pre GFC) and I'm led to believe around 2 in 10 997.2's were manual versus 7 of 10 for the 997.1's.Jump to content
