GARDEN PLOTS
The Probstfield Organic Community Garden currently has about 100 plots available for rent each year. Each plot is 20ft x 30ft. The cost is $50 for the first plot and $25 for a second plot. Each gardener is also required to pay a $25 refundable deposit. Each gardener is responsible for the care of their RANDOLPH M. PROBSTFIELD Randolph M. Probstfield. Born in 1832 as the eldest son of a Catholic family, Randolph Michael Probstfield left his native Germany for the United States at the age of 22. By 1868 he and his wife, Catherine Sidonia Goodman Probstfield had established a family homestead in what was to eventually become Oakport Township, Minnesota. If you are coming from 11th St N in Moorhead, travel north past the Crystal Sugar plant, country club, cemetery and MB Johnson Park. The farm will be up ahead a little on your left. You will see the sign for “Probstfield Farm”. Unlike many of Wilder’s other works, The Long Winter contains far less fiction, and is, for the most part, an accurate account of the winter of 1880-1881. Sustainable agriculture is a way of raising food that is healthy for consumers and animals, does not harm the environment, is humane for workers, respects animals, provides a fair wage to the farmer, and supports and enhances rural communities.
