Participants in this FMN will focus on how to use data-driven modules in undergraduate life science courses. Accepted applicants will customize and implement newly designed biology educational modules from a wide range of topics. GROUP: QUANTITATIVE BIOLOGY AT COMMUNITY COLLEGES Quantitative Biology at Community Colleges (QB@CC) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) supported project that received funding in 2019. The long-term goal of QB@CC is to drive the disciplinary expectation that all biology courses should significantly enhance student's quantitative skills. GROUP: BUILD A GENOME NETWORK Build-a-Genome (BAG) BAG is a course-based undergraduate research experience in which students create synthetic genomes. Pioneered at Johns Hopkins University in 2007, BAG was integral to the international effort to create the first synthetic eukaryotic genome (the Synthetic Yeast Project) and helped initiate the teaching of synthetic biology to undergraduates. QUBES - RESOURCES: SEED DISPERSAL IN TROPICAL FORESTS Description. In this exercise, students investigate differences in seed dispersal between two tropical tree species, one wind-dispersed and one bird-dispersed. Student make predictions about the seed shadow of the two species and then compare their predictions to seed dispersal patterns revealed in graphs. Students also explore therelationship

OUR NETWORK . . .
We believe in the power of collective impact. We create opportunities for professional societies, curriculum projects, and STEM Ed researchers to join with and support educators.Explore
. . . AND COMMUNITY
We recognize that moving quantitative biology education forward requires a community that works together to achieve its goals. QUBES supports community members by providing an open and inclusive virtual space for sharing quantitative classroom activities and resources, discussing teaching and the adaptation of educational materials to specific institutional contexts, and working together to develop new ideas and insights. We also connect educators with opportunities through our broader network in STEM Education, broadening the impact of quantitative biology education curriculum and research projects, conferences, and other initiatives. * Faculty Mentoring Networks * Workshops and Meetings* Classrooms
