For the second year in a row, hunters in Virginia have harvested a record number of black bears, according to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR). ALLEGED HAMMER ASSAULT IN CHESTER GAP The case involving an alleged assault on a young girl by an 18-year-old Rappahannock County High School senior will be handled in Rappahannock County Domestic and Juvenile Relations Court. Ethan Hunter Leake, of Chester Gap, was charged in the Saturday night incident with malicious wounding resulting in permanent impairment. THE VOICE OF PHIL IRWIN WILL BE GREATLY MISSED Phil Irwin, who cofounded RLEP, set up the county's first easement on his farm outside Flint Hill in 1973.
