------------------------- STATEMENT RELEASE ON COVID-19 FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, NOELKAMMERMANN
March 16, 2020
Dear Sacramento Loaves & Fishes Community, As we all navigate the changing circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to assure our community of guests, volunteers, staff, and supporters that we remain dedicated to our mission of providing critical services for adults and children experiencing homelessness in Sacramento. We continue to monitor the evolving response from our local, state, and federal government and comply with their recommended guidelines. Loaves & Fishes is committed to the health and wellbeing of our 80 staff and 4,000 volunteers. As a result, we have made changes to our operations. Based on Governor Newsom’s recommendation on March 15, 2020, we request that any staff or volunteer over the age of 65 stay home and self-quarantine. Operating hours for ALL ESSENTIAL CAMPUS PROGRAMS are reduced to noon each day until further notice. The following adjustments have been made to each program: * The Dining Room will remain open to distribute “to-go” or baglunches for guests.
* Sister Nora's overnight residential program will remain open, but residents have been communicated to practice social distancing. * Maryhouse, daytime hospitality shelter will limit traffic inside, but continue services and dispense survival supplies. * The Washhouse will minimize congestion inside, but remain open. * Mustard Seed School will run a limited half-day program on campus from 8:15-11:30 am for unsheltered children living in cars or outside and the front office will stay open until noon for intakes. * The Warehouse will remain open until noon to receive donations. * Friendship Park is open to provide breakfasts, supply survival items, and lunch tickets. * All other programs will close for the time being. Sacramento Loaves & Fishes has served as a house of hospitality for nearly 40 years, and we have endured challenges in the past, but the onset of this pandemic is unprecedented. We have been told that life will drastically change in America and are already experiencing these effects. As the local and state government make promises of sheltering our most vulnerable populations, the question remains of how long this process may take and what barriers will arise. We will continue to be here in the fight for our guest’s survival and provide them with no-barrier services to address their immediate needs. _YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED NOW MORE THAN EVER._ We expect that in this time of crisis, donations will be sparse and for our organization, _WHICH IS 100% RESOURCED BY OUR COMMUNITY OF SUPPORTERS AND FOUNDATIONS, WE WILL NEED YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT._ Please make a monetary donation online or drop-off in-kind items to our warehouse open until noon each day. We will keep you informed with any changes or other announcements. For questions or concerns, please email info@sacloaves.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
