SAM'S TOYBOX
Sam's Toybox, a site devoted to my collection of collectible, mostly vintage toys; the coolest toys ever made. For reminiscing only, my toys are not for sale. MONSTER MODEL KITS BY AURORA AND POLAR LIGHTS The back of the boxgives a simple explanation of using 'washes' and 'drybrush' to paint the model. Thesecond model is a re-issue of the 1960s Aurora kit, item number 7502 dated 2000.The third is a new version by Polar Lights and is a full 16 inches tall. A greatkit, item number 05046 dated 2002. AMAZE-A-MATICS BY HASBRO Hasbro had a winner with the Amaze-A-Matics, the fantastic car with a brain. The battery operated cars travel forward and backwards, and turn left and right based on the grooves cut into program cards that feed through the bottom of the car. SURE SHOT BASEBALL GAME BY IDEAL Sure Shot Baseball is a well done game from Ideal. Item number 2363-0, dated 1970, the game consists of the playing field, pitching chute, player figures, scoring pegs, and baseballs. SONIC MYSTERY GUN BY DAISY Thanks, Sam. When is a BB-Gun not a BB-Gun? When Daisy leaves the innerds outof the barrel and creates the Sonic Mystery Gun, which shoots invisibleshockwaves through the air. That is, it shoots air.Item number 1916, I believe from the 1960s. Below the pictures of my personalgun is a photo of another version someone sent me. Cool. SEA DIVER GAME BY PARKER BROTHERS Sea Diver - The Underwater Explorer by Parker Brothers is such a great science based game. A Cartesian Diver toy, one puts the diving bell into the bottle along with the gravel and nautical items and fills with water. Squeezing the bottle causes the diving bell to dive and the hooks on the bottom to open. One tries to land the hooks over a ONE WAY PUZZLE BY MILTON BRADLEY The One Way Puzzle by Milton Bradley is a difficult puzzle in the spirit of the Disappearing Square. The front of the plastic tray says, in case you can't read it, " There is only One Way to make a SQUARE out of these 5 pieces." The puzzle is small, about six inches long and the instructions show a number of other shapes that can be created in only One Way, including the arrow that lets the FIELD HELICOPTER BY SEARS I believe it was available from 1967 to 1969. This is a picture of a complete Field Helicopter from the book Toy Bop (Ad), by Tom Frey. If only mine looked this good. This picture will be invaluable if I ever get around to trying to fabricate a rotor for my copter. Here isSAM'S 1960 SIESTA
On July 17, 2005 I purchased my third vintage camper trailer since I was bitten by the teardrop bug. It is a 1960 Siesta Travel Trailer that is much larger than a teardrop. ELECTRIC BALL CLOCK BY ARROW Arrow Electric Ball Clocks from the 1970s. The Electric Ball Clock from Arrow is kind of a toy. It comes in pieces whichyou must assemble and once plugged in will keep time by raising a ball from the bottomto the top each minute.SAM'S TOYBOX

Sam's Toybox, a site devoted to my collection of collectible, mostly vintage toys; the coolest toys ever made. For reminiscing only, my toys are not for sale. AGENT ZERO M BY MATTEL The Agent Zero M line of toys from Mattel in the early 1960s made young boys feel like real spys. The toys transformed from everyday-looking objects into weapons, mostly cap guns. First is the Radio Rifle which turns from a simple transistor radio into a cap rifle. No number on the toy, it is dated 1964, and I have seen versions of this toy OPTICAL LAB KIT BY LOGIX-KOSMOS The Optical Lab Kit from the late 70s was indeed a cool toy and this copy is nearly intact. Manufactured by Logix-Kosmos in Canada, the same company that manufactured the Logix 0-600 Computer the Aeronautical Lab Kit, and the Nautics Lab Kit.Released under the Science Fair brand name and sold through Radio Shack the kit demonstrates optical concepts and allowed you to build CASCADE GAME BY MATCHBOX Cascade by Matchbox is a way cool battery operated game. Consisting of the spiral lift, three thumper drums, the score pit, reload ramp, and the plastic mat. Originally the game came with 10 steel balls and my copy came with none. I found five suitable balls in my stock of ball bearings and set to get my game in working order. METAL MOLDER DIE-CAST FACTORY BY TOYMAX Reminiscent of toys of the late 60's, Toymax does it again with the MetalMolder Die-Cast Factory. Smallvials of pre-measured metal "shot" are melted and poured intomolds to make such things as motorcycles, wizards, robots, andjewelry. DYNAMITE SHACK GAME BY MILTON BRADLEY The Dynamite Shack game from the Milton Bradley is one my brother had when we were growing up. Get rid of your dynamite by dropping it down the chimney of the shack before it blows its roof. I remember us using the thumbs backwards and picking the dynamite up using the thumbnails which was (is--I tried it) only slightly easier than using the SWITCH 'N GO BY MATTEL Switch 'N Go - This neat battery operated car from Mattel ran along plastic tube track and included switches that were powered by air. Press the air control pump and control the switches so that the car would take different routes on the track. The car features three speeds including a low "hill-climbing" gear that was automaticallyengaged
ELECTRIC BALL CLOCK BY ARROW Arrow Electric Ball Clocks from the 1970s. The Electric Ball Clock from Arrow is kind of a toy. It comes in pieces whichyou must assemble and once plugged in will keep time by raising a ball from the bottomto the top each minute. SAM'S TEARDROP TRAILER Three boxes down, three to go. (6/21/2005) The last of the six underfloor storage boxes is done and mounted sticking up slightly above the frame. All the boxes were mounted this way then sanded flush with a belt sander. I've also installed the first small piece of new 1/2" plywood floor at the rear of the trailer. (7/1/2005) The 3/4"treated

Sam's Toybox, a site devoted to my collection of collectible, mostly vintage toys; the coolest toys ever made. For reminiscing only, my toys are not for sale. MONSTER MODEL KITS BY AURORA AND POLAR LIGHTS Frankenstein. Aurora's Frankenstein model is a fairly accurate sculp of Jack Pierce's make-upthough it reminds me more of the Glenn Strange incarnation (House of Frankenstein)than of Karloff. The Monogram "Luminator" was cast in neon plastic and is item number 1619 from 1991.The Monogram Bonus Value Pack is item number 6375 from 1994.The Revell model is a re-issue of SURE SHOT BASEBALL GAME BY IDEAL Sure Shot Baseball is a well done game from Ideal. INCREDIBLE EDIBLES BY MATTEL Incredible Edibles were a later line of Thingmaker toys by Mattel in the 1960s. Released in a number of different configurations, the sets normally included the Sooper Gooper oven, eight molds, six or eight tubes of Gobble-Degoop, and various other necessities. FIELD HELICOPTER BY SEARS Unbelievably, I had this toy as a kid and remember it so well. A Sears Wishbook exclusive, the Field Helicopter backpack made helicopter sounds, flashed red and blue lights, had two speeds and a transmission lever to engage the rotor. Appealing to all the young boys at the time, Ideal created a winner with the Powermite line. Each tool shown below is a working, die-cast metal tool that can perform just like the full-sized one that dad mayhave in the garage.
FBI JR. BY NASTA
The FBI Jr. line by Nasta includes spy toys disguised as everyday items. I have all four toys that were made. The Reese's Camera, item number 10200 dated 1991 is a real working 110 film camera. ONE WAY PUZZLE BY MILTON BRADLEY The One Way Puzzle by Milton Bradley is a difficult puzzle in the spirit of the Disappearing Square. The front of the plastic tray says, in case you can't read it, " There is only One Way to make a SQUARE out of these 5 pieces." HANDS UP HARRY BY TRANSOGRAM Transogram's Hands Up Harry target game from 1964. I believe the same year that my brother got Transogram's Spy's-A-Poppin game I got the Hands Up Harry target game, subtitled Showdown at the Circle T.Very large, very cool old toy which stands 27 inches tall and came with a large dart gun and four darts.SAM'S 1960 SIESTA
The backside of the camper doesn't look too bad and does have the large Siesta placard at the top--a rare feature I'm told. The former owner added the utility trailer taillights at the bottom because he couldn't get the original lights working. APOLLO 11 BY IPI TOYS This large Apollo 11 playset by IPI Toys is so cool. Built in sound plays Neil Armstrong's "One Small Step" phrase. The command and lunarmodule as docked in
THREE KEYS TO TREASURE BY MARX Three Keys to Treasure is a very cool bagatelle toy from the Louis Marx Co. One shoots the marblesinto the plastic and tin playing field for points and prizes. INJECTOR - WESTERN WORLD BY MATTEL - SAM'S TOYBOX Mattel's Injector - Western World is a very cool toy from the late 1960s. This set allowed one to make cowboys, indians, and horses outof molten plastic.
