Saw Nail and Paint. Lovingly refinished furniture, vintage and thrifted home decor, urban farming and city chickens HOME TOUR - SAW NAIL AND PAINT Hello Fall Home Tour 2017. My Home Paint Colors: Warm Neutrals and Calming Blues. Sadie’s Bedroom. French Farmhouse Garden Table. Upcycled Summer Garden Style. Late Spring Home Tour – Inspiration from Nature. Navy Blue Kids’ Bathroom. Master Bedroom Updates. Spring Kitchen Refresh. HOW TO EASILY AND NATURALLY RESTORE LUSTER TO WOOD It’s so simple to apply – love that, too! I just wiped a thin coat on with a soft, lint free rag. You can also use a brush if you prefer. I let it sit for about 30 minutes and lightly buffed. It gave the dresser a light sheen and brought out the depth of the wood grain.FURNITURE MAKEOVERS

MY HOME PAINT COLORS: WARM NEUTRALS AND CALMING BLUES The main floor of our home is very open and most of the spaces connect to one another. To give the open areas flow and a cohesive feel, I painted the entry, living room, dining room, den and hallway all in “Balboa Mist.”. It is a warm and soft neutral gray. I woulddescribe it
WHEN NOT TO PAINT WOOD FURNITURE Hi Friends, Today I’m sharing some examples of those times when I have decided against painting a piece of wood furniture. I know this can be a pretty touchy subject with some folks, and I’m simply sharing insight into my own personal decision making process when I find a piece of furniture.WHAT THE FAUX?
What the faux? October 8, 2014 ~. Faux furniture painting wasn’t just a 90’s thing. It started way before then. Who knew. I picked up a charming early 1900’s dresser at my favorite Goodwill a few weeks back. It had this really funky tiger oak finish on it that had definitely seen better days. MAGNOLIA HOME CHALK PAINT REVIEW Magnolia Home Chalk Paint. Magnolia Home chalk paint comes in 44 different colors, and is sold at select retailers and through the Magnolia website. I did a quick search and found that it is sold at Miller Paint here in Seattle, and is very close to my home. I headed over to have a look. This paint does not come premixed like otherchalk paints.
ROADSIDE RESCUE VINTAGE DRESSER MAKEOVER Simple, quiet elegance is the look I was after. After a good cleaning inside and out, and a day of airing out in the sun, I sanded it with 120 grit and then wiped the entire piece down. I primed with 2 coats of BIN Zinsser shellac based primer . I then painted the entire piece with 3 coats of General Finishes milk paint in Antique White .SAW NAIL AND PAINT

Hey, it’s me, Susan in your inbox today! It has been a minute since I have posted on the blog, I know. With all the tragedy going on in the world these past few months, I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in reading my little blog. MY HOME THEN AND NOW My Home Then and Now. August 21, 2020 ~. As I was cleaning out some drawers this past week, I came across old photos of our home. They were taken before we moved in 16 years ago when our home was newly built and staged by the builder. In celebration of our home’s “Sweet 16,” I thought it would be fun to share the photos so youcan see the
PINE DRESSER MAKEOVER AND HOW TO FILL OLD HARDWARE HOLES Fill all the old holes with wood filler, let dry and sand. Because wood filler can (and does) shrink as it dries, apply a second coat of wood filler, if needed, let dry and sand again. Apply a coat of primer and let dry. Applying a coat of primer at this point allows you to better visualize any uneven spots or pits where additional fillermight
VINTAGE DRESSER MAKEOVER WITH FUSION MINERAL PAINT Steps. 1. Prep and Prime. I filled the major gouges with wood filler and then sanded the entire dresser with 220 grit sandpaper. I vacuumed and cleaned it inside and out. I then gave it a coat of shellac based primer. When painting with white on vintage dressers, I always prime with a sealing primer to ward off the dreaded bleed through. VINTAGE + THRIFTED BLUE AND WHITE BEDROOM MAKEOVER Last fall I found a gorgeous vintage bed at the Goodwill. Priced at just $30, it was a steal. It’s a full size bed, and I knew it would be perfect in my daughter Sadie’s bedroom. Today I’m sharing how I restored the bed and updated her bedroom. Sadie wanted her room to have calming, watery blues. I painted the walls a light gray blue COASTAL BLUE AND JAVA ANTIQUE CHEST RESTORATION Coastal Blue and Java Antique Chest Restoration. June 25, 2015 ~. A colleague of a good friend contacted me and asked if I could refinish her Grandmother’s antique chest. She wanted to pass it along to her daughter and hoped to give it to her as a Christmas gift. I CALM COOL AND COASTAL BEDROOM RETREAT The antique bed was a Goodwill find. A fun whale rug adds a little coastal touch. This “Calm” Rae Dunn candle says it all, doesn’t it? I made the simple shell art using thrifted frames, burlap and shell fragments found at the beach. Sadie and I are always drawn to the imperfect, broken shells.
