OLD MASTERS
Blended Scotch Whisky. Old Masters was first introduced in the 1970s exclusively for the Freemasons by Isle of Man-based Lombard Brands. Comprised of Highland and Speyside malts and select grain whiskies, Old Masters is said to embody notes of vanilla, tropical fruit and biscuit. Production type. Blended Scotch. Advertisement. DALMUNACH | SCOTCH WHISKY Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Named for the nearby pool in the River Spey, Dalmunach is one of Scotland’s newest and most contemporary distilleries. DUNOON | SCOTCH WHISKY Dunoon distillery Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. GLEN ELGIN | SCOTCH WHISKY Glen Elgin Distillery & brand. Fruitiness is the key to Glen Elgin’s character – a lush fruitiness at that – which is achieved through clear wort, long fermentation and slow distillation in its six stills to clean out sulphur, but then condensing takes place in worm tubs which adds weight and complexity. 10 AMERICAN SINGLE MALT WHISKEYS TO TRY Colkegan. Sante Fe Spirits was perhaps the first American distillery to turn to that all-American flavour of mesquite for its whiskey. Its Colkegan Single Malt, named for distillery owner Colin Keegan, uses a combination of 30% mesquite-smoked barley alongside 70% un-smokedmalted barley.
CAMPBELL DISTILLERS
Campbell Distillers has one of the most complicated legacies of identity crisis of any Scottish whisky company, boasting several name changes in just 50 years. In 1933 wine shipper Samuel Rosenbloom formed a whisky merchant, Forbes McGregor & Co. The company was based in Campbell House, Glasgow and when the Rosenbloom family changedtheir name
TEANINICH | SCOTCH WHISKY Teaninich History. Built in 1817, Teaninich was an early legal distillery, but as it was built by Napoleonic war hero and estate owner ‘Blind’ Captain Hugh Munro that’s no more than you would expect. He and his brother General John Munro were notable as being benign and caring landlords in a region which was brutally hit by the Highland Clearances .CARSEBRIDGE

PITILLIE | SCOTCH WHISKY Pitillie distillery Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The site of Pitillie distillery is at or beside Pitilie Farm on the Pittiely Burn which feeds the River Tay to the north.. Pitilie Farm still appears on maps today and sits a mile or so uphill from Aberfeldy, just east of the A826 road from Aberfeldy to Amulree. BANFF | SCOTCH WHISKY Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Located on the Moray Coast, in distillery terms Banff was situated between Macduff and Glenglassaugh. In its early days, when still owned by the Simpson family, a single malt was bottled under the name Old Banff and supplied to the House of Commons. In the DCL era, it provided fillings for blends. FINLAGGAN | SCOTCH WHISKY Finlaggan was a launch brand for the Vintage Malt Whisky Company Ltd, which focuses on bottling whiskies from the Highlands and Islands. The brand was designed to embody the spirit of Islay (it’s named after a loch on the north side of the island, just west of Port Askaig where the Macdonald Lords of the Isles had their seat), and does so inGLEN MARNOCH
That November the company released 3,000 bottles of Glen Marnoch 24-year-old Highland single malt at the distinctly knock-down price of 29.99, followed by an even more rarefied 40-year-old malt called Glenbridge, at less than £50. Since then Glen Marnoch has become the store’s proprietary luxury malt brand that has encompassed the mainELEMENTS OF ISLAY

This remote, sheltered, high pasture land was ideal for moonshining – the first road to ‘the Braes’ was CHILL FILTRATION: IS IT BAD FOR WHISKY? Dear Professor. First of all, many thanks for your answer on Sherry casks – certainly cleared the air for me.. On the subject of being clear – and I know this is an old chestnut – chill filtration. A controversial subject, and I realise much written and many opinions expressed on it, but it would be kind if you would explain the realities of this in your own inimitable style. ITALY’S LOVE OF SINGLE MALT Tom Bruce-Gardyne reports. Legendary bottler: The late Silvano Samaroli was a driving force for malts in Italy.
