Propagating cacti can seem like a daunting task, but with a good pair of gloves it is a simple process. It is recommended that you propagate your cacti in late spring with the arrival of warmer, drier weather. THE BIRD POOP CATERPILLAR The Bird Poop Caterpillar. This cleverly disguised caterpillar was found munching in our gardens this fall. Papilo cresphontes, common name bird poop caterpillar, uses camouflage to resemble bird droppings. Younger instars often rest in plain view on the upper surfaces of leaves where you would expect to find bird droppings.PINELLIA TERNATA
Pinellia ternata was widely sold 10 or 12 years ago in Southeastern PA as the only Pinellia that wasn’t invasive. In it’s EARLY years in our garden it was a delightful plant but in 6 or 7 years it gets entrenched and the plants begin to appear further and further from theparent clump.

SANGUISORBA TENUIFOLIA 'PURPUREA' The Japanese burnet is a plant that I have only observed on a few occasions, but it has always left a lasting impression. Lately I have been admiring a planting of Sanguisorba tenuifolia ‘Purpurea’ near the Sproul Terrace steps. Its burgundy red flowers bobbing in the airare hard to miss.
BROUSSONETIA PAPYRIFERA 'GOLDEN SHADOW' However, this time it was a golden foliage selection, Broussonetia papyrifera ‘Golden Shadow’. Acer rufinerve The Maphouse is a small peculiar building tucked into the wooded edge of the Parrish West Circle between the Lang Performing Arts Center (LPAC) and the Scott Outdoor Amphitheater. Planted around it is an assortment of oddities, each with its own story. One THE BIRD POOP CATERPILLAR The Bird Poop Caterpillar. This cleverly disguised caterpillar was found munching in our gardens this fall. Papilo cresphontes, common name bird poop caterpillar, uses camouflage to resemble bird droppings. Younger instars often rest in plain view on the upper surfaces of leaves where you would expect to find bird droppings.Skip to main
