MESSIER OBJECT 24
Messier object number 24 is not a "true" deep sky object, but a huge star cloud in Milky Way, a pseudo-cluster of stars spread thousands of light years along the line of sight, perceived through a chance tunnel in the interstellar dust. They form a portion of a spiral arm of ourgalaxy.
NGC AND IC NUMBERS ASSOCIATED WITH MESSIER OBJECTS NGC and IC numbers associated with Messier Objects. There are four Messier objects which have no NGC number assigned: M25 (which is IC 4725), the double star M40, the Pleiades M45 (some of their nebula have NGC numbers, however) and the Milky Way Patch M24 (which contains open cluster NGC 6603 though, and may be identical to IC 4715). THE TRI-SCHIEFSPIEGLER TELESCOPE Richard Buchroeder's 3-mirror telescope was the first of what are now called Tri-Schiefspieglers. Meanwhile, Anton Kutter of Germany already had his own unpublished Tri-Schief design. HISTORY OF THE MESSIER CATALOG History of the Messier Catalog Charles Messier published his original list of 103 object entries in the Connoissance des Temps for 1784 in 1781. Messier personally added the entry for M104 to his personal copy of the catalog from his observations, obviously intending a further revision at that time, about one month after the list was published.* Team__
