Due to the COVID-19 emergency, in order to protect the health of our Commissioners, staff, and members of the public, Planning and Historic Preservation Commissions, and the Zoning Variance Hearings, will convene remotely as of April 9, 2020 until further notice. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN GUIDELINES The Guidelines also suggest opportunities for residential designs to further San Francisco’s goal of environmental sustainability. Section 311 (c) (1) of the Planning Code provides that Residential Design Guidelines shall be used to review plans for all new DECKS AND ROOF DECKS Decks and Roof Decks. The addition of decks to existing buildings requires a building permit application with plans if any part of the walking surface is more than 30 inches above grade (a roof deck also requires a building permit). Some decks may be approved over FEE SCHEDULE FOR APPLICATIONS New Fee Schedule Now in Effect. The Planning Department charges fees to compensate for the cost of processing applications. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN GUIDELINES The Guidelines also suggest opportunities for residential designs to further San Francisco’s goal of environmental sustainability.
