SOFTWARE - SHAPEOKO
Overview. You'll go through five steps in creating a part with your ShapeOko. Design the part in a CAD (Computer Aided Design) system.; Generate the G-Code that will drive your ShapeOko using a CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) program.; Check that G-code to ensure it does what you want in an efficient manner in a Previewer.; Send the G-code from your PC to the controller for your ShapeOko CARBIDE CREATE PHOTO TRACING Setup. Scale this image to the actual size in a photo editing or drawing program (the above should be ~8.5" W x 4" H) save as a PNG, BMP or JPEG, and then import into Carbide Create using the command Job Setup | Document Background | Edit --- select the graphic in the resultant dialog and click OK. Set the stock are to match the originalsize

Here is a quote from Edward Ford’s blog: . I’ve looked high and low for a nice open source, entry level CAM program. As luck would have it, after YEARS of searching, I found one mentioned in another forum, and tracked it down to find out it had been abandoned but the source was released before said abandonment. The Z-axis can be tricky --- if you have good belt tension, then you may want to test removing one spring. Consider removing the M4 bolt, putting a thin bead of threadlock on and allowing it to dry, then reinstalling it --- that seems to help it stay in place while maintaining adjustability. Make sure that your router is adjusted aslow as it

BELTS AND PULLEYS
The Shapeoko uses power transmission/timing belts, pulleys, and idler wheels for linear motion along the X- and Y-axes.. Timing belts have teeth that prevent slippage so that the pulley and the belt alwaysmove together.
TUNING - SHAPEOKO
Machine Movement is Erratic and Jerky. By default, some Communication / Control programs will send one command to Grbl and then wait for an acknowledgement, this slows the machine down and precludes the machine optimizing acceleration. Some programs have an option which will download multiple instructions, keeping the buffer full. I had to upgrade the Z axis to make it more rigid and smoother on this axis. I also had to tighten a little bit the X axis on the maker-slide to prevent as much movement as possible due to spindle weight.UGS INSTALLATION
USB is usually so user friendly at this point that it is easy to forget that it is just a Universal Serial Bus.Glad you got it working. I think Will Adam's added some comments about this to the Wiki, since you aren't the first person to have this problem and surely wont bethe last.

At a very minimum, you need a 90 W power supply for four NEMA17 motors driven from a gShield with three stepper motor drivers (with the two Y motors in parallel on one driver). For example, a 24 V 3.75 A supply will work, but the ideal supply would have a little more headroom -- say, 24 V 4.2 A (100 W). You'll need 100-120 W to make the most ofFEEDS AND SPEEDS
