CD 12/31:46. The debut album by a Norwegian neo-60’s beat group, complete with faux 60’s-style liner notes. As bands that “live in the past” go, these guys are pretty damn good. They write some fine original songs which evoke that era and have an authentically retro production, and they’re also musically tight. SP'S BEST CD'S OF 2003 Exploding Hearts - "Guitar Romantic". This Portland 4 piece was a huge buzz band in early 2003 having put out a couple great singles, and blowing away audiences with their irrepressible live shows. SHREDDING PAPER #17 SINGLES REVIEWS 1090 Club/The Front - split 7 inch The great upper Rockies states of Montana and Wyoming are represented here, with the Front being a female fronted punk band that on this release takes one of their songs and turns it into an acoustic number, complete with some husky JoanJett-ish vocals.

SP REVIEWS - FEBRUARY 2002 - SHREDDING RADIO Andrew W.K. - "I Get Wet" CD 12/35:30 AWK continues to crank out anthemic hard rock in the vein of Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister, aided by his state of the art wall of sound production.SHREDDING PAPER
The website for Shredding Paper magazine, the leading source of indie record reviews from 1999-2006. THE 50 GREATEST SINGLES 2 - Elvis Presley - "Don't Be Cruel/Hound Dog". Heck, take all the Elvis records on RCA from 1956 and '57 and put 'em here. Every sound on those records was perfect, which is why they sound as remarkable now as they did at the time. A SYSTEM ON THIN ICE The following column appeared in SP #6. While the mass media suddenly discovered flaws in the system following the Bush/Gore dead heat, SP was well ahead of the game with all 3 of our columnists delivering a strong rebuke to America's electoral process in SP #6 in April '00.SHREDDING PAPER
CD REVIEWS - 12/06. Hard to believe that there are actual instruments (guitar, drums, etc.) among the electro-noises here. Imagine if the audio on your old Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 games were programmed by ADD-afflicted indie folk-cum-closet-Kraftwerk disciples and you'll have something like this. Pretty fun, and makes me wonder what they'd SP'S BEST CD'S OF 2004 SHREDDING PAPER'S BEST OF 2004. Arcade Fire - "Funeral" CD 10/47:55.
