Many desire the time when things go back to “normal.” One thing is clear: Things are not going back to the way they were. Dr. Jay Miller gives us 3 reasons why. A SOCIAL WORKER'S THOUGHTS ON CHILD PROTECTION SOCIAL WORK by Cathy Lipke, MSW. Child protection is a myriad of different experiences. Sad, joyous, shocking, and scary are just a few descriptors. There are not many jobs where you get to encounter uniquely different situations every day. These situations can bring out a wide array of emotions from joy to anger. To manage these situations and emotions SOCIAL WORKERS NEED PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES Because social work is a helping profession, social workers often find it difficult to balance personal and professional boundaries. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) states, in part: “The ability to set and maintain professional boundaries is critical THE IMPOSTOR SYNDROME AND THE SOCIAL WORKER FIELDING CHALLENGES, FINDING STRENGTHS Following the Open Space model, a student facilitator introduced the workshop’s broad theme: “Fielding Challenges, Finding Strengths.”. She then gestured toward an expanse of white wall marked into an empty grid representing time blocks and meeting spaces for the sessions that any supervisor could propose. TIPS FOR MAKING HOME VISITS IN CHILD WELFARE 4. Once in the home, ask the client’s permission to be seated and follow his or her instruction on where to sit. You may ask to move at some point during the visit, once rapport has been established. 5.
