Not only do we support the patient at St Oswald’s Hospice, we also support families, who are caring for their loved ones. In May, our hearts were warmed by the return of St Oswald Virtual pet Show, a wholesome celebration of our furry and feathered friends who bring so much joy to our lives. We had a huge response from you all and each week, a winner was chosen by a member of our team. Relatives, carers and friends can visit our Inpatient Unit at any time during the day. We would suggest, however, that most visitors come in the afternoon or early evening (up until 9pm) to allow time for rest. Over the last few weeks, eight Pre-Registration Pharmacists have been supporting and shadowing the team on our Adult Inpatient Unit. This is the first time such a programme has taken place in the region and has given placements a valuable insight in to palliative care at aHospice.

Today meet Eileen Merryweather, who has been a volunteer at the Hospice for over nine years. Over the last few weeks, eight Pre-Registration Pharmacists have been supporting and shadowing the team on our Adult Inpatient Unit. This is the first time such a programme has taken place in the region and has given placements a valuable insight in to palliative care at aHospice.
