UPDATES FROM THE PARISH PRIEST Saturday 5th June 2021 Call out yesterday evening to Sefton Road in Hoole for the Sacrament of the Sick. I remembered the house well, from the husband’s funeral seven years ago: now his beloved wife is on that same journey to meet the Lord. Perhaps the most distinctive sacred representation in St Werburgh's Church is the large crucifix suspended above the entrance to the sanctuary. In calling it a rood cross, we are being tautologous. Rood is the Old English term for a cross. It became associated in medieval times specifically with the True Cross,the one

UPDATES FROM THE PARISH PRIEST Saturday 5th June 2021 Call out yesterday evening to Sefton Road in Hoole for the Sacrament of the Sick. I remembered the house well, from the husband’s funeral seven years ago: now his beloved wife is on that same journey to meet the Lord. St Werburgh's is always pleased and privileged to celebrate Funerals for our parishioners, either here in Church or in the Chapel at Blacon. (ST WERBURGH CHESTER) PARISH COUNCIL Parish Council. The Parish Council meets bi-monthly (see Parish Diary for dates) to consider matters relating to the administration of Parish affairs. Parishioners are invited to contact any member of the Council in advance of a meeting to request consideration of any matter of concern or interest.
