It is generally agreed PDA is part of the Autism Spectrum Conditions whereas ODD can occur on its own. Phil Christie, a child psychologist, said “It is inevitably the case that when conditions are defined by lists of behavioural features there will be interconnections and overlaps. This results in certain aspects of ODD and PDA presenting in THREE STAGES OF A MELTDOWN & WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT Three Stages of a Meltdown. 1. Build Up. · Walking in a different pattern. · Body posture (head down, head on desk, tense). · Become much more literal. · Change in voice tone. · Increase in wringing of hands/hypersensitivity to touch/picking at skin. · Become slower to respond or increase in vagueness. EPISODE 106: HOW TO CREATE A LUNCHTIME CLUB TO BUILD Staffing/Supervision – be clear about supervision by staff. Some schools have peer programmes set up where older students supervise. All the schools who used peer support report a tremendous response from students wanting to be involved in the programme.8. SOLUTIONS & STRATEGIES FOR COMMON PLAYGROUND BEHAVIOUR Below are a number of common playground behaviours and suggested strategies to make a difference for the kids you know.
