6 HOLIDAY WRITING IDEAS FOR THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS Here is a quick reference list of 6 holiday writing ideas for you to save to your favourite note keeping place. The writing process doesn’t always stick for students. 16 WRITING ACTIVITIES THAT ENGAGE SECONDARY STUDENTS 2. RELEVANT WRITING. Picture this. Energetic lyrics fill the air as students listen, think critically, and analyze them. Or, students snap a photo of a page from an independent reading book, grinning as they annotate it with gifs, text, emojis, and more. Spotify and Snapchat are extremely popular apps for students. 5 POETRY ACTIVITIES TO HEAL TRAUMA Try it out, you’ll see. So, before doing these five healing poetry activities, I urge you, try them yourself first. 1. Concrete Feelings Poetry. Feeling words are abstractsad, angry, overwhelmed. These words just don’t cut it when trying to explain how we are feeling. 5 WAYS TO BUILD WRITING COMMUNITY Here are five ways you can build writing community in your classroom, right from the get-go. #1 Photo Montage. Every year on the first day of class I ask my students to wander outside with me and choose a location on campus where we can take a group picture. I invite them to do something silly or serious, posed or natural. 6 WAYS TO DIFFERENTIATE WRITING INSTRUCTION SPOTLIGHT RESOURCE: This argumentative writing bundle contains all of the resources I use to scaffold students' experience with writing essays about controversial topics. It contains lessons that address common areas of weakness and is designed to help teachers support students so they can all achieve success. 7 POETRY ACTIVITIES STUDENTS LOVE 7.
