Telefilm is launching the 2021-2022 program guidelines before the current pan-Canadian consultations are completed in the interest of supporting the industry and producers who require financing for upcoming production. Current changes reflect the ongoing feedback from the consultations and may be updated once the consultation process iscompleted.
COVID-19 EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND The COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sport Organizations announced by the Prime Minister on April 17, 2020 is an additional temporary relief measure created to help alleviate the financial pressures faced by cultural, heritage and sport organizations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The objectives of the Emergency Support Fund are to maintain jobs and support MANDATES - TELEFILM CANADA operational committee. The Operational Committee assists the Executive Director of Telefilm Canada with respect to decision making on matters concerning the application of the various guidelines of Telefilm Canada, as well as any specific issue, interpretation or situation relating to the operations and administration of Telefilm Canada or which departs from standard practices. TELEFILM CANADA SUPPORTS THE CREATION OF 10 INDIGENOUS Toronto/ Montréal, August 12 th, 2020 – Telefilm Canada announces the support of 10 Indigenous feature films with an annual $4 million dedicated to funding Indigenous creators through the Indigenous Stream. The selection of these projects presents an array of genres from drama to thriller, science-fiction and documentary, with three of these films directed by women and three directed or coDEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
This program supports Canadian production companies looking to finance the development stage of their feature film project(s). Given that Telefilm Canada administers these treaties and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) on behalf of the Government of Canada, applications for recommendation are sent to us for evaluation purposes.
