DESIGNING YOUR PERFECT COOP A good investment for the coop is a humidity & temperature gauge. Try to keep the humidity between 40%-70% and the temperature below 90 degrees. Having a reliable gauge will help you determine if you have enough ventilation. 3) Think about roost placement.ALL ABOUT DUCK EGGS
For great hard boiled duck eggs, place the eggs in a pot of cold, salted water. Bring to a boil. Once the water is boiling, remove the pot from the heat and let sit for 12 minutes. Carefully remove the eggs & place in a bowl of ice water until cool. HOW TO MAKE A DUCK HOUSE The house should either be on the ground or have a low ramp. You might need to add traction strips or a mat on the ramp to help wet, webbed feet navigate. Fill the house with plenty of straw for them to snuggle down into and for making a nest out of. The most important thing the duck house needs is ventilation. TREATS YOUR DUCKS WILL LOVE! Greens, herbs & weeds make great treats for ducks. Tear up bits of wheat grass, dandelion greens, or fresh herbs like oregano, rosemary, basil, mint, calendula, or parsley and float them in their water dish or pool. They will have a great time fishing their treats out. The only thing to be aware of is if you are picking things like dandelion DUCK FIRST AID KIT & DUCK HEALTH Duck First Aid Kit & Duck Health. An unfertilized egg WILL NEVER develop a chick even if the mother hen incubates it. A fertilized egg COULD develop into a chick under the right circumstances. Even if you have a rooster, as long as you are collecting eggs every day you will not crack open an egg to find a developing chick.THE CAPE COOP

Originally bred in the 1930s in Germany, nearly all the breeding stock were lost in World War II. Saxony are listed as critically endangered by the Livestock Conservancy. KEEPING DRAKES IN YOUR DUCK FLOCK Give him more females. Ideally 3 females per every male in the flock, but 4-5 females provide him plenty of options and eases the strain on each female in the flock. Have a pool or pond for them. Ducks naturally want to mate in the water, it is easier on the female’s legs. They will still mate on land, but given the option, water isbetter.

You might need to add traction strips or a mat on the ramp to help wet, webbed feet navigate. Fill the house with plenty of straw for them to snuggle down into and for making a nest out of. A fertilized egg COULD develop into a chick under the right circumstances. Even if you have a rooster, as long as you are collecting eggs every day you will not crack open an egg to find a developing chick.THE CAPE COOP
