The newest wide-angle lens from Irix joins the ultra-wide 11mm, standard 45mm, and macro 150mm. Inspired by their popular Firefly and Blackstone 15mm f/2.4 models, the new cinema lens is lightweight, affordable, and exhibits very little distortion. Available in EF, E, PL and Micro 4/3 mounts. DZOFILM SCALES UP WITH PICTOR ZOOMS As far as comparisons go, one could stack the Pictor zooms up against the Canon Compact Zooms, Angenieux EZ zooms, Sigma Cine zooms, or Arri Alura Zooms due to their similar zoom range. Canon announced their CN-E Primes back in 2011 with only a 24, 50, and 85mm. They quickly added the 14, 35, and 135mm to the line-up providing cinematographers an set of six lenses from 14 through 135mm. The lenses are plenty sharp and built rather well. WHAT’S IN A NAME? A GUIDE TO ZEISS SUPER The name refers to the maximum aperture of the lenses. Zeiss slower line of primes were often referred to as “Standard Speeds” which featured a maximum aperture of T2.1. The SUPER Speeds had an impressive fast aperture of T1.4 or even T1.3. This ZEISS ADDS FOUR NEW SPR FOCAL LENGTHS The Sapphire Set, otherwise known as the basic set, consists of the seven original 21, 25, 29, 35, 50, 85, and 100mm lenses. The Ruby Set (A.K.A completion set) includes the four newest focal lengths: 18, 40, 65, and 135mm. Put the two above sets together to get the Diamond Set, which is the full set of eleven Supreme Prime Radiance lenses.ZEISS CP.2 VS. ZF.2

The Rokinon Cine Primes really do shine when used on a Super 35 format sensor due to the range of available focal lengths and mount options. Also, considering the lenses that are designed for 35mm FF will really only be using the “sweet spot” of the produced image, shooting on a Super 35 format camera with these lenses makes so much sense.THE CINE LENS
