BHAKTAPUR POTTERY SQUARE: A LOOK AT TRADITIONAL LIFE First things first. There are actually two pottery squares in Bhaktapur. More if you go further out from the town, but they are smaller and less popular. The first pottery square is, Suryamadhi, located to the East of Dattatreya temple and square. This one is said to be the oldest pottery square, but it’s also a little commercial. PEACOCK WINDOW IN BHAKTAPUR The Peacock Window is a 15th century window built in Bhaktapur Nepal. Commonly referred to as the "Mona Lisa" of Nepal is it one of the countries most precious art works. It consists several small bird carvings with a large intricately decorated peacock carving in the center with tail feathers that form a GUIDE TO THE ROYAL BATH (NAGA POKHARI IN BHAKTAPUR, NEPAL The Naga are carved into the stone surrounding the bath before rising up in the center. They are there to protect it. The detail shown on them along with the bath itself is some of the best proportional work in Nepal. Naga are traditionally called "snakes" and are often associated with water. TOURISTS BUYING DRUGS IN KATHMANDU NEPAL Tourists getting caught buying drugs on the streets of Kathmandu are easy pickings. Last year a Thai woman married to a European bound for Malaysia was arrested for cocaine smuggling. In Makwanpur over 2.6 tons of hashish was seized in June 2012 . To 150 upwards for more open market touristy places with a bigger squid on offer. Though in some restaurants the price can easily double again! JEEPNEY MAKERS IN THE PHILIPPINES Jeepney’s are unique road transportation vehicles used in the Philippines. A cross between a bus and a jeep! “Where do Jeepney’s come from?”. It’s a question I’ve wanted an answer to since first jumping on board one of these gas guzzlers in Manila. Of all public transport vehicles I have taken, I like the jeepney the most. THIMI: THE FORGOTTEN HERITAGE TOWN IN KATHMANDU Thimi is home to the impressive and highly important Siddhikali temple The “middle place” in Kathmandu known as Thimi. Currently Thailand only offers a 30 day on arrival visa for overland travelers that can be used twice a year. 60 day along with further visas are available at Thai consulates and are honored atoverland borders.

From what I know, this is some of the cheapest dental work, at the highest level of standard anywhere in the world. PEACOCK WINDOW IN BHAKTAPUR The Peacock Window is a 15th century window built in Bhaktapur Nepal. Commonly referred to as the "Mona Lisa" of Nepal is it one of the countries most precious art works. It consists several small bird carvings with a large intricately decorated peacock carving in the center with tail feathers that form a BHAKTAPUR POTTERY SQUARE: A LOOK AT TRADITIONAL LIFE First things first. There are actually two pottery squares in Bhaktapur. More if you go further out from the town, but they are smaller and less popular. The first pottery square is, Suryamadhi, located to the East of Dattatreya temple and square. This one is said to be the oldest pottery square, but it’s also a little commercial. BUDDHA PURNIMA (BUDDHAS BIRTHDAY) IN NEPAL Buddha, Prince Siddhartha Gautama, was born in Lumbini, Nepal between 563–480 BCE. There’s some dispute over whether Lumbini at the time was in Nepal or India. Today it’s very much in Nepal. Prince Siddhartha Gautama was raised in Shakya the capital of Kapilavastu, India. It was only after his death that he became known as the Buddha. TOURISTS BUYING DRUGS IN KATHMANDU NEPAL Tourists getting caught buying drugs on the streets of Kathmandu are easy pickings. Last year a Thai woman married to a European bound for Malaysia was arrested for cocaine smuggling. In Makwanpur over 2.6 tons of hashish was seized in June 2012 . GUIDE TO THE TALEJU TEMPLE (MUL CHOWK) IN BHAKTAPUR, NEPAL The Taleju temple was built in the 14th century and is the oldest part of Bhaktapur's Royal Palace. Although non-Hindus are not allowed inside everyone else can look through the guarded doorway. This is a lot more than the Taleju Temple in Kathmandu which only allows people in once a year!. The main shrine is to the left while to the rights old fresco paintings. RISING COST OF ENTRY FEES INTO HERITAGE & TOURIST SITES IN The fast rise of official entry fees to heritage sites in Nepal. In 2007 a foreigner had to pay 200 rupees if they wanted to enter Kathmandu Durbar Square or even to cross over it to the other side. WHAT IS IT LIKE TO LIVE IN NEPAL? Change in Nepal is like the well overdue earthquake that’s expected to flatten fifty percent of Kathmandu. It’s overdue, but no one knows when it will happen. Living in Nepal, once you factor in the above, is a game of chance, hard work, compromise and sacrifice. Already there are small tremors.
